Because this place can be such a sausage fest, I thought maybe us girls could have our own little corner of the forum to discuss ~womanly~ things. I know a lot of you lovely ladies are into natural remedies and the like, so I figured maybe we could share with each other things we have found to work, not work, and different outcomes of different attempts at things.

I guess I can start since I am creating this thread.

Have you all heard about Evening Primrose Oil?
Evening primrose is a plant that's native to Europe and North America. It has a long history of medical uses. Native Americans, for example, used its leaves, roots, and seedpods in preparations for hemorrhoids, bruises, wounds, and skin problems.

Evening primrose oil contains an omega-6 essential fatty acid that is necessary for good health. However, there is limited evidence that taking evening primrose oil supplements will provide any health benefits.

Evening primrose oil supplements usually come in capsule form. People take it to try to treat conditions such as:

* Rheumatoid arthritis
* Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
* Eczema or atopic dermatitis and other skin conditions
* Breast pain during menstruation

I originally bought it for treatment of PMS (this is the brand I have), but after reading some of the things it can do for the skin, I started poking a hole in the capsule and applying the oil topically at night. I swear to you that my skin has completely changed. It's softer, more "supple," some of the fine lines that were starting have disappeared, and I swear the oil is somehow clearing up any discolorations I have had. I had such success using it on my face that I started putting a bit on the ends of my hair (my hair tends to split and break off at the ends from heat styling), and it has helped that as well. I highly recommend it.

I have tried (raw organic virgin) coconut oil on my hair and it actually seemed to dry it out more than moisturize. I'm not sure how, since most people claim it softens their hair, but I guess everyone's body reacts differently. I do use coconut oil as a moisturizer on my skin. Especially on my legs after shaving. You feel a little greasy/oily for a while but once it soaks in, my skin is super duper soft. No more scratchy/rough skin on my knees and elbows. :D Occasionally I will add a dab of the stuff to my evening primrose oil and use it on my face.

Another skin treatment that I have had success with is Tea Tree Oil. I'm sure y'all know about this. I have used it for years as a "spot-treatment" on blemishes, but for almost a week now I have been mixing it with water and using it as an astringent (applying with a cotton pad to problem areas). It stinks to the high heavens but it's almost completely killed a monster zit I've had for about a month now.

Recently I have started making my own toothpaste as well. I have orthodontic braces on and it seemed like no matter how many times a day I brushed my teeth, they never felt clean enough. But with this stuff I have made, they feel awesome and actually look a bit whiter as well (although it could just be my imagination). I mix equal parts baking soda and the aforementioned coconut oil, and add a bit of xylitol. It has a strong "baking soda" taste to it, so if that grosses you out I'm sure you could add some peppermint oil. I have thought about adding a few drops of the tea tree oil to it, but I haven't gotten around to that yet. One thing to remember with this stuff, though, is that coconut oil is solid at room temperature, so you don't want to spit this stuff out into your sink or it may clog your drain. I usually just spit into the small trash bin I keep next to my bathroom sink.

Anyone else? Even if it's not related to ~natural~ products. Let's use this as a place to talk about lady things. :hugging:

Excellent Poot for honoring both the females on the site as well as issues that we have.

I spent all day in chat so am a bit drained but I look forward to participating in this thread.

We do have an opportunity to bond versus compete and i am all in~~~

Believe it or not this works.... after a shower while skin is still wet, massage in good old Baby Oil, (or whatever oil you prefer) and THEN dry off, O.K. you lose a bit of the oil on the towel but your skin will feel really smooth and supple.

I shoulda called this thread "Taco Party" :lol:

This reminds me of a funny story, my youngest daughter was setting up her email account a few years back and was drawing a blank as to what to use for her name.

She was working at Taco Bell at the time and she got this "brilliant" idea to call herself "Taco Goddess" in relationship to her job.

LOL.........it took us a few weeks before we realized what most people would think about that name.

Still makes me laugh to think about it....................... :sunny:

Bull Semen in Hair Products

Because of its high protein content, bull semen has become a popular ingredient in hair products. Used particularly for dry or damaged hair, the semen is mixed with a plant called Katera and applied to the hair in swanky salons. The process takes about 45 minutes, costs about $90-120 USD, and has been described as "Viagra for hair"

I'd hate to be the poor sod in charge of filling the bottles. :headscratch:

Aww, someone moved this out of "off topic" where I put it, and into "website & forum." :D

I feel honored :love:

Last night I was looking up about blackheads... For researchyeah right... and I stumbled upon some blog post where the girl talks about Lotus Oil. I have never even heard of it. I was wondering if any of you have, and if so, have you tried it?
