Colombian authorities confirmed that a "giant fire ball" that fell from the sky in the central Santander department was a meteorite. they know where it hit, but no photo's.
The Colombian media has been buzzing with eye witness accounts of the fireball, which fell out of the sky and caused a massive explosion at 3:15PM local time Sunday.
Bucaramanga Mayor Fernando Vargas confirmed the phenomenon was a meteorite that left a crater 100 meters in diameter where it crashed into the earth in the San Joaquin municipality in Santander.
Colombian air force helicopters were commissioned to fly over the vicinity to try to locate the source of the explosion.
The director of the University of Nariño's Astronomic Observatory, Alberto Quijano, told RCN Radio Sunday that he believed the object was a meteorite.
In rural areas of Santander, police received reports that the explosion had shattered windows in the zone.

DOUBLE ASTEROID FLYBY: It's a cosmic coincidence. Two asteroids, each about 10 to 15 meters wide, will fly past Earth within hours of one another on Sept. 8th. Although both are coming inside the orbit of the Moon, there is no danger of impact. At closest approach, 2010 RF12 will be 77,000 km (0.2 LD) away; 2010 RX30 will be even farther at 231,000 km (0.6 LD). Advanced amateur astronomers may be able to track the asteroids using these ephemerides. The fast-moving space rocks will shine like stars of 15th or 16th magnitude. Good luck, observers!
Yeah.... coincidence , right.

Wow, paranoia has really stepped up a gear today hasn't it.
That enlarged picture doesn't show anything outside of it being a meteor {it HAS been put through a filter though to give it the look it has}

No no I don't wish to scoff, just (this isn't aimed at you) today I've read a lot of people commenting on something with total belief with seemingly little to no critical thinking which worries me
