Has slavery been abolished or just polished?

I was just reading through another thread in which one of the members here used an adjective while commenting on the technological advancments that the military posses over the civilian population on a scale of years. "Slave" was the adjective used to represent the civilians. Well gosh, it got me to thinking. Is that what we are. Just slaves. I for one do not care to carry the weight of the label but looking at the criteria of a good citizen, especially tody as more freedoms are being taken, there appears to be some slight truth to the adjective used. What do you people that think, think about that. Is a polished version of slavery our reality and are all of us just in denial to that fact?

This is a timely post as this is a subject I have been giving some thought to of late.
Slavery was abolished, in England, in 1807 due to the campaigning of the abolitionist movement led by William Wilberforce. Slavery finally became illegal everywhere in the 'civilised world' in 1833. While births were sometimes registered, it did not become a legal requirement until 1837 - just 4 years after slavery became illegal. Similarly, income tax was initially enacted in the UK in 1799. Then stopped, restarted and modified during the early 1800s (when slavery in England was abolished) but was finally enacted, in the form that has persisted up to the present day, in 1842 - 9 years after slavery became illegal.
The National Insurance Act came into force in 1911. I haven't been able to find a definitive answer to the question of in which year did the UKs national debt begin but one financial website lists figures going back to 1900.
So I would say the circumstantial evidence points to us being 'wage slaves', with our various taxes and other contributions (not) paying off the interest on the Government's loans while they continue to borrow from the Banksters using us as collateral (hence our necessity to register the birth of every child and have a national insurance number allocated to us). And what does Government call the bits of paper it exchanges for fiat currency from the private banks? Bonds. We may not be slaves bound with iron shackles and chains but we are 'bonded slaves' (in paper) nonetheless, in my view!

The problem is what system do we put in place? people will get corrupted with the power that any new system offers. As I see it I dont like the current way of things but what is to replace it and over a period of time how do we stop corruption which leads to control of others affairs. Life being so fluid would eventually lead to another corrupt system of control. We need either a computer to tell us or the aliens who are hopefully benevolent, because as a species we have proven time and again that we are incapable of managing our own affairs, in a 100% free society how would we manage big projects for the betterment of ourselves as a whole. So as much as I hate the system I cant find the answer to how mankind should live together with fundemental rules to go by. Unless I wear a knife stuck in my dress to make me a soveriegn, then a bigger sovereign might come along. Basically we are incapable of governing ourselves with respect to all life someone will come along and take the power.

Excuse me for using the quote boxes here, but i thought this was an exellent point. It gets me to thinking of how, even though act of slavery was abolished due to the campaigning of the abolitionist movement led by William Wilberforce in 1807( that is a useful demonstration of the power of human will), it seems to have been just a somewhat mask to save the position of power. If it was not abolished when it was I can't imagine what chaos would have followed with the victors surely being the people. The military back then; i don't imagine, were as brainwashed or well equiped to handle such an uprising, but maybe that's the difference today. 1833 was a greater victory but just 4 years after it seems to have been a new plan implimented to systematically take bak control right under the noises of people and maybe now today it has evolved into a well oiled machine that maintains what it was meant to create. The illusion of freedom to satisfy the enslaved. I'm not definite on my thought but i thank you for giving my brain cells some grub to munch on.

This struck me to the heart. I have to say that there is a part of myself that agrees with what you have written. But there is another part of myself that questions if this dependency of needing to be governed isn't just a part of the overall "conditioning" that i've read mentioned by some around here. Your thought made me think to exactly where we have learnt this enslaving aspect to our humanity. I was looking at yet another post in which their talking about past visitations by aliens being mistakened for gods and another post that speaks of the reasoning for the enslavement of human kind back then. Something to do with minning or something. It's not all clear and i'm not an expert but i like just to talk with other people and learn something. Maybe we can replace this "system' but only if we pull away from its design all together. Maybe the design never was created by us and maybe this slavery is something that was taught to us through the experience of our anscestors and now today used because its an infection that's out of control. There are some people that really like to grow things, some people really enjoy the challenge building things,(just two examples) is it not possible to barter knowledge and skill instead of money. It is more valuable than a peice of paper. Teach a man to fish right? I guess the type of change we really need has to begin from the individual before it can be implimented as a understanding and path to a more ballanced tomorrow.
Thank you for your responses. All of you are not meanys like i've been told. You've eased my fear to posting.

ha we try being what we are (america) a republic ruled by law. there is so much open corruption, conflicts of interest, treasonous seditions, etc.. we hold these people to criminal charges found in our laws for the Crimes they have commited, then when found guilty we hang , shoot electric chair, microwave cannon, sound gun - the worse offenders to Death.
but the real problem is that the people that would order that to happen would never do that to themselves
dark times may lay ahead, as our lazy asses watch this happen mostly in silence or pure ignorance. occassional news stories of 'rampant crime' some lone or pair of gunmen shooting up some gov building. one could look up docus on argentina - a country looted to see what we may be in for.
