Two years after receiving its first deposits, a “doomsday” seed vault on an Arctic island has amassed half a million seed samples, making it the world's most diverse repository of crop seeds, the vault's operators announced Thursday.

Cary Fowler, who heads the trust that oversees the seed collection, which is 620 miles (1,000 kilometers) from the North Pole, said the facility now houses at least one-third of the world's crop seeds.

“In my lifetime, I don't think we'll go over 1.5 million. I'd be rather surprised if we go over a million,” Fowler told The Associated Press. “At that point, we'd have all the diversity in the world ... and the most secure samples.”

Located in Norway's remote Svalbard archipelago, the Svalbard Global Seed Vault is a safeguard against wars or natural disasters wiping out food crops around the globe. It was opened in 2008 as a master backup to the world's other 1,400 seed banks, in case their deposits are lost.

War wiped out seed banks in Iraq and Afghanistan, and another bank in the Philippines was flooded in the wake of a typhoon in 2006. The Svalbard bank is designed to withstand global warming, earthquakes and even nuclear strikes.

Despite the rapid progress, Fowler said the bank still has significant holes in its collection.

“There are a few unique collections that we don't have up there yet — Ethiopia and some of the Indian materials and some of the Chinese materials,” he said.

The most recent additions include a mold-resistant bean from Colombia and a collection of nearly every agricultural soybean species developed in the U.S. in the last century.

MY theory is that this is how previous life(Ruled Government) has surived thier down falls of their time?
Dont really know how all life on earth has died and yet most of our crops and insects survived?
I read a person posting about modern day Noah's ark, then my thought was what if this is how they did it then? Maybe not such as nuclear blast however, natural causes. It would not be all to far fetched to think that is possible.
All sorts of hiden technolgy at this current time, then gotta believe they had hiddened agendas then, this also takes into the fact of the NWO and the masons. From step 1 too step 2, and at this current day and age going from step 2 too step 3, the NWO.

If theres really a cyclus that lets our earth have an extinction every 26 million years,
then i think the one nation from way way way back before we could even think
has made it faster than us today,
they could be the "aliens" we see today at skies, they made everything right, considering us, we live in a broken world, a world where the governments only want money
and not giving a shit about us people working our asses off.

these "aliens" moved to moon and/or mars shortly before earth extinction, and left us tracks of them before....
after moving there, another extinction or catstrophe happened, which made them have to move again, but with their technology left.

thats the reason they still visit us. to have a look how we do it.
and they cant believe this mess happening on earth,
since this earth is such a fucking awesome place for any life that exists, having
a chance to advance, but not in this life, this time, our humanity has failed at anything

they did everything right, we humans fail at anything we do, except us open minded.

we will either have a very new start (extinction) or if we are lucky the aliens will save us before 2012,
a new start would be deserved for this world, an alien rescue would be too much
in my opinion, only deserving those people that are thinking the right way, like most of
us herer on DTV, all the others, fuck them and leave them here

All they have to do is hire people. Just like everything else.
I'm not saying that they ARE the ones behind it however, they do indeed have some of their own. As for the ones that get known by public these are ones probably build by research facilities with the governments money.

Because the secret of life is that is will go on no matter what. Unlike what your taught in school, life will find away to come into existence, it is unstoppable as the suns rays are. The universe is full of life.

Life survives by changing with the change, by being one with the environment.
That doesn't mean that everybody survives, but humankind.
