Don't lose hope. Don't lose hope. Don't lose hope.
We should all be so capable of hugging each other. I know that there is hope in a new generation of kids who make their hellos a hug, but the organisations and authorities who are making a point of regulating and controlling it... chill me to the bone.
Just remember that today this a goofy headline you may ignore, but tomorrow it could grow into a bill before our governments laying down the controls and regulations of public contact; The Who, How, Where, When of hugging... be sure to check with your lawyer.

As detailed by a recent front-page story in The New York Times, teenage hugging has become an epidemic stretching from one coast to the other. Girls are hugging girls. Boys are hugging boys. "We're not afraid, we just get in and hug," said Danny, a Pascack Hills junior.
Administrators are not so enthusiastic. According to the article, "Schools from Hillsdale, N.J. to Bend, Ore....have banned hugging or imposed a three-second rule." The principal of Hillsdale's George G. White School, which instituted a hugging ban, told the Times, "It was needless hugging...It wasn't a greeting. It was happening all day."

Comforting as the hug may be, principals across the country have clamped down. 'Touching and physical contact is very dangerous territory,' said Noreen Hajinlian, the principal of George G. White School in Hillsdale, N.J., who banned hugging two years ago. 'It was needless hugging — they are in the hallways before they go to class. It wasn't a greeting. It was happening all day.'
