I disagree completely. This was an apex predator. It could just as well have been your child or wife in it's mouth.

The old timers killed off wolves and seriously thinned down the bear and cat population for the same reason. We need to remain at the top of the food chain.

This is Alabama. THAT gator diserves a statue and a nice place in a zoo. If not, Florida State should've bought him from us. RIP beautiful creature.

That apex predator was old. So he had never bothered anyone before. He was in his habitat not on someone's doorstep. Humans moved in on him not the other way around.

Until any animal has proven it is a danger it has as much right to life as you do.

Funny you use the old timers methods for thinning animal populations since many animals went extinct from that mentality. We are more advanced technologically than our ancestors....so we don't have to resort to such drastic measures.

Our ancestors also use to kill their young if their food supply couldn't provide for everyone.......should we still being doing that?

Shouldnt have killed the alligator, granted, tradegdy, but is anyone else wondering if an 11 foot deer is somekind of record, is that 11 foot long or 11 foot high, either way that is one huge deer.
