You've heard me say it before, it's all about balance. The needs of the one have to be in balance with the needs of the many. Everywhere you look all you see is me me me, but there can be no me without we. Let's look at the US government as an example or metaphor for our collective condition. I have often thought that the Republican party best represents the needs and wants of the one. I agree with many of their principles, such as individual liberties, fiscal responsibility, holding people accountable for their actions and staying out of our way without a lot of regulations just to name a few. I recognize a lot of the democratic parties platforms as being representative of the needs of the many and I agree with many of these as well such as social security and Medicare for our retired citizens and Medicaid and social services for the bottom percentage that really do need our help. I also think that their past positions on labor are good, you don't have to look very far to see that if we don't have regulations or rules to protect the working class the upper class will take advantage of any situation. Also I think that it is important to protect our environment and our public as a whole from the people that would harm it or us for a buck. I guess that is why I refer to myself as an independent but my point is again, balance. I agree with points and positions from both parties but in our messed up collective world I have to align myself with either one or the other parties and then help bash the other side that agrees with some of my own positions. That seems REALLY DUMB to me. If the US congress worked like it should the legislators would recognize this principle and the right would work diligently for the needs of the one, understanding that the left will be working just as hard for the many, and that with BALANCE they would craft legislation that would be good for both halves of the equation. But of course they all already know this and what we are watching is nothing more than a very frustrating charade. They, including Obama are doing and getting exactly what they want, status quo.
In regard to this post, I also own and run a small business, and most of the time it seems like I'd be better off working for someone else, it's more work than most people know, I'm always working on some aspect of the business and it's always to realize a bigger profit later that never seems to come. I do recognize what Obama is saying, I drive on community roads, I get my help from the community, I and my help were educated in community schools and all my customers are from the same community etc. etc. I owe a percentage of my success to the community, I can't see how any one can say I did it all myself, it just doesn't work that way. For all of you that seem to be hard right wingers out there you are playing right into our enemies hand, your enemy isn't the democratic party or the left or the people that agree with democratic principles it's the FUCKING ELITE! To suggest that it is the political left is just plain ignorant, and until WE realize it we will lose this struggle. The only way they win is to keep us divided. Btw it seems to be the right more than the left that is carrying the ball for the elite, you don't see any republicans wanting to squeeze them for more money or more jobs.
If we had more balance we would see much more employee owned businesses and much less of CEOs making 475 times as much as the employees. At the very least the management of companies would have much more concern for there employees and would understand that if they destroy the middle class as it appears they are doing, they would also destroy their very own customer base. Seems kinda dumb to me.

Hey Wright brothers, you think you’re so smart, saying, “I made this.” You didn’t build that. Someone else made that happen
