One of my faves Teloc - I have actually posted the whole book here before myself.

Actually his stance is what helped me tremendously when separating myself from the dogma and ritualism.

It's a perspective from an atheist turned agnostic turned Christian.

You should give it a shot - if you read the book - you would see the difference, and you would understand the difference in what "Mere Christianity" is and the fanatical bullshit that gets thrown in here as if it's status quo.

I am just pointing out that fact. I mean these are well known sayings in your religion.

My thing against Christianity as a whole, is I think it has been infiltrated, corrupted and that it abuses its power it holds over people by implanting a lot of false information to them. A religion based on the fear of 'hell' where the preachers feel they have to 'put fear' into their followers goes against all my spiritual beliefs! I dont think anyone should be afraid of death and I certainly dont believe anyone should live in fear.

Humans have 2 emotions, love and fear. All other emotions are based off of these 2. You see to me, a person who lives in fear is much different then a person who lives in love. Your whole purpose in life on this planet, to me, is to experience love, and progress spiritually. This is why I am against war and torture and etc. I dont like a lot of people, but I still believe everyone has the right to enjoy life to the fullest. What you make out of it is your business.

Christianity to me is just the pagan religion with a new name and face. Now some of the teachings are good, but the institution as a whole is just spiritually rotten to me. Christians can be some of the most ignorant belittling brain washed followers that I have ever seen. And I love how Christians call Muslims fanatics, when they should be looking in the mirror.

But again, your religion is based on faith, so if your faith is strong you should not worry about what other people think or say about it.

Spock remember I am an artist, as such I like to give people different perspectives on this and sometimes I like to fuck with people to provoke them into seeing a new view. Even if it pisses them off, just as long as they can look at the other side justly. I dont mean to insult anyone, I am just very direct in how I communicate.

believe it or not I grew up roman catholic, and I went to bible school, etc. I was in the military and got into church there to, mostly to escape the bullshit and stress.

But I study history and art history and a lot of stuff I have found and a lot of things I have come to know clearly illustrate to me the problems associated with this cult.

What is it Teloc that you have found in the "word of God"?

Is there truly something there in amongst the pages that you cannot find within yourself?

believe it or not I held many of the same views as you, Mep, I now see them as commercialized.

I'm an artist too, (at least i pretend to be at work) and have had many notions of religion and "what is real" in my life. That said, the book is incredible. Helps people that are stuck in the idea of what it is to be a Christian (believers as well as nonbelievers) a different perspective, on built on logic and reason - not on faith. In this manual, faith is a natural byproduct of logic - and that's why this C.S. Lewis' writings on this are so powerful.

Point is, just because it sounds good, that don't mean it is correct.

Why do you follow Jesus instead of all the other gods? Why is Jesus better then the other gods? How do you know you picked the right religion?
