Indian Technology
I've often wondered if Indians would have developed technology if the white man had not interfered in their society.I've also wondered what kind of society would be in america today if the white man had engaged in cooperation with the Indians instead of control.I'd be interested in anyone's insight into these questions.

Hard to tell.. perhaps they might have had some sort of industrial revolution on their own?
They went as far as the agricultural revolution and farming.. but didn't they seem quite content being left alone? Like the Aboriginals of Australia? White man came along and fucked it up for them, took their land, killed them, sold them off, slaves etc. I'd say they'd have had a far better outcome if white man had never came along..well that's obvious..
I believe Indians are,and were, intelligent enough to have developed some kind of technology eventually.Indoor plumbing, food storage, mass production, things like that. But I also believe they would have done it with much more respect for nature than the white man and it probably would have taken them a lot longer.
The original Vedic technology and knowlege is proving more advanced by far than the modern state of the art versions, hence are being revised, revived, and must certainly be the future of our way of thinking if we have the sense to stop following the carrot on a stick ruin of modern science.

History shows that all around the world, cultures seemed to develop with some things that were not shared information, so I would guess that technology for the American Indian would have been in some of the same forms but not in the same manner. For instance, our technology seems to be inspired do to demands in our society so the Indians society would dictate it's own progress providing their society wasn't infected by other cultures.
I would say though that they would be the worlds great conservationist.
Peace

I tend to agree. It would seem that they would be particularly interested in protecting their environment for future generations without technology being that involved in their daily lives.Kudos to the Indians!

If you guys remember, almost all the pilgrims died when they first came here cause of their lack of knowledge on how to live so primitive yet completely cared for.
IMHO, they would of had their own enlightenment period. They were smart enough to build their houses to collapse and carry all their possessions by two or three people. So they were intellectually pretty smart, especially when figuring out how to do anything.
If the natives were at the same level of technology I feel like the pilgrims woulda got booted out of here so fast.

"There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die. "
I AM an endangered species.

Had we combined our cultures slowly,I think we would have been a lot better off,but then hitler comes to mind.If we hadn't had the technology we did he might have succeded. The developement of technology may have been skewed by peaceful, cooperative existence with Indians and had far more reaching consequences than what ,at first, comes to mind. That is not to say we were right in what we did, just a possible scenario.
