Beware of instinct. Human instinct have developed in the course of many thousands of years to preserve personal life so that the species can continue. Thus, instinct may force us to react to a threat by fighting or fleeing.
These are the instinctive reactions. Fight if you feel stronger than your enemy. Flee if you feel otherwise.
Survival is the objective of both manners of reaction.
These reactions are understable within the context of a primitive world where humans were just becoming distinct from animals.
So we tend to react this way when facing a threat; and also when facing a challenge of any kind. Fight or flee.
We must overcome this instinct, through reflection. Is there a challenge before us? We have to pause, observe, analyze, draw conclusions. Only then react. Thought must precede action, not follow it.
When we act instinctively, irrationality can lead our actions. After that we look for excuses, to justify our actions. Not only explaining yourself to others, but most important, justifying your actions to yourself. This leads to self-delusion, to life in an imaginary world where you never can do wrong, but deep inside you know this is not true, and then you are unhappy with yourself. And this feeling is translated into anger.
All this can happen because of instinctive reaction to a challenge.
Think before you fight or flee.
