Ok folks, gonna come at this in a different angle. Yes, if they do this millions and millions of people are going to be pissed off. Guess what happens when you have millions upon millions of pissed off people no longer able to surf the net? They start walking around and going outside and meeting other people to talk about how pissed off they are.

This will be the ultimate backfire when it comes to their innumerable ways to try and exert control over us. Do I like that this is happening? Hell no and I really cant believe they are this stupid. They really have to be sweating bullets over the way things are going to think this actually makes sense. One of the greatest things they got going is that people spend more time on their computers now then with other people when on their free time. I guess they do not realize that this will only cause any resistance to grow stronger and it will happen very rapidly.

This caused a lot of controversy when released in 2001 but it is a slamming attack on the media in this respect. My point is that most of us are not paedophiles so why should our online freedoms be restricted?

In order for us to gain access to the internet we need to pay our providers whoever that maybe, Comcast, AT&T,AOL,Sprint.....at this point they are the ones getting rich off of this file sharing not me or you (unless we allow it on a personal website which we make a income from advertisements). I think they the providers and website owners that get payed from the advertisements, should be the ones that have to cough up some of that cash they make from us and pay the artist. Regulation isnt the answer they just need to stop being so greedy.
But really IDK if somebody was taking my drawings and selling them or posting them on their web site for a profit i know i would want to be' payed.
Are they really trying to protect us or just show how powerful they think they are. This (the internet) could truly be one of our last worldly information sharing freedoms. How much knowledge have we gained over the last 10+ years that cast a gray shadow on the governments of the world, this is why they want the regulation not to protect the artist but to protect themselves.

Say DTV makes money of advertisements, this has nothing to do with selling the content of others work lets say news sources , so why should they pay money..

All im saying is artist/media groups aren't seeing anything off of whats posted on this site or the web, unless they are directed to their personal stores or sites. if the providers would give them even a red sent maybe this would not be a issue. Unless this really isn't the issue and its all about control of access.

Yeah, it's funny how neatly the corporate interests fit with the control aspect.

Forget the artists for a bit, I'm talking more about news stories, I can understand the artists, well again its the corporations not really the artists that are mostly complaining, they loose a few million but still make shed loads and instead of taking the hit themselves they pass the buck to the artists, same as the electric company's, they make more than enough yet pas the buck to the people instead of loosing a bit of profit..
