They are afaid because the internet is waking up the World. If they want something from it they should hit the providers, because they sure as hell charge me a load of money for 5G. On a lighter note im actually starting to get fed up of the internet ,been on it since it started, work with it etc and i actually cant remember what i did with my time before it came along. Having said that ive stopped doing shops and im downright lazy! :sunny:

Murdoch could block Google searches entirely
Bobbie Johnson in San Francisco
Monday 9 November 2009 09.08

Rupert Murdoch says he will remove stories from Google's search index as a way to encourage people to pay for content online.

In an interview with Sky News Australia, the mogul said that newspapers in his media empire – including the Sun, the Times and the Wall Street Journal – would consider blocking Google entirely once they had enacted plans to charge people for reading their stories on the web.

In recent months, Murdoch his lieutenants have stepped up their war of words with Google, accusing it of "kleptomania" and acting as a "parasite" for including News Corp content in its Google News pages. But asked why News Corp executives had not chosen to simply remove their websites entirely from Google's search indexes – a simple technical operation – Murdoch said just such a move was on the cards.

"I think we will, but that's when we start charging," he said. "We have it already with the Wall Street Journal. We have a wall, but it's not right to the ceiling. You can get, usually, the first paragraph from any story - but if you're not a paying subscriber to WSJ.com all you get is a paragraph and a subscription form."

The 78-year-old mogul's assertion, however, is not actually correct: users who click through to screened WSJ.com articles from Google searches are usually offered the full text of the story without any subscription block. It is only users who find their way to the story through the Wall Street Journal's website who are told they must subscribe before they can read further.

Murdoch added that he did not agree with the idea that search engines fell under "fair use" rules - an argument many aggregator websites use as part of their legal justification for reproducing excerpts of news stories online.

"There's a doctrine called fair use, which we believe to be challenged in the courts and would bar it altogether... but we'll take that slowly."

Murdoch's attitude towards the internet - which appeared to have thawed when he bought social networking site MySpace for $580m in 2005 - has stiffened more recently.

Over the summer, Murdoch had announced that he planned to introduce website charges by next year - but last week it emerged that his controversial plans had been delayed, saying that "I wouldn't promise that we're going to meet that date".

Additionally, it emerged that MySpace, which has struggled in the face of competition from Facebook in recent years, was due to fall short of its targets in a lucrative search deal with Google – a slip that could cost the site more than $100m in payments from the internet advertising giant.

In the Sky News Australia interview, Murdoch underlined his feelings towards those companies by listing a litany of names of those that he felt were overstepping the boundaries.

"The people who simply just pick up everything and run with it – steal our stories, we say they steal our stories - they just take them," he said. "That's Google, that's Microsoft, that's Ask.com, a whole lot of people ... they shouldn't have had it free all the time, and I think we've been asleep."

I agree with Admin on this.

I thought it was a bit ballsy to put up a movie on the forum the same week it was released and I believe there are those who take this stuff very seriously.

I think you are asking for trouble though I know your intentions are honorable.

I have mixed feelings about the copyright issues in general. It's a very sticky subject and I sympathize with both sides, to some extent.

Regardless, I think it's tempting fate, even under present laws, to post pirate copies of a whole film that just hit the theaters.

People can find this stuff anyway. Maybe it's safer just to tell them where to find it.

Who asked you to take it down? Let's see the message sent. I'd also like to point out that when copyrighted material is requested to be taken down there are two options 1.) remove it and 2.) face being sued by copyright holder. No one has the ability to take a website down no matter what is uploaded unless it is CP. The only way site can be shut down is if a large settlement is made and the site operators can no longer afford their server hosting which really isn't that expensive in the grand scheme of things.

Just to rehash what we already know from the News Cast.. "3 strikes and you are out..." I am wondering why this is still not clear??? So Any web site or users can and will be removed after 3 complaints.. All policed by the Service Provider.. So how is this a confusing concept to understand?????

First off I already put in quotes a section of the email...
You obviously did not believe me the first time.. I did not post it in its entirety and did correct the spelling..

Quote:
The problem of vicious copyright claims about Hollywood blockbusters on DTV outweigh the positive aspects of uploading them here. Films like these on DTV pose a significant threat to the site to be taken down by the MSM.

I am posting these screen shots of the emails, but I want all to know I am uncomfortable doing this. I feel I already made my case clear. The only reason for my decision is to back up my claims and there is no disrespect to the admin.

Any further doubt????????
I can't be any clearer.. Nor can the Admin here...

:look: :rtft:

And why is what I said so hard to understand? A website cannot be removed from the internet only sued into bankruptcy. And what service provider? internet service provider? They aren't the ones hosting this website or any other sites that aren't some n00bs personal page. Nobody is going to take this site down no matter what is posted here unless it is CP. A website is contained on a web server independent from your ISP. The "three strikes" rule goes for file sharing and I have yet to hear of it being enforced in the states, the most I've heard is letters being sent and people getting sued which is rare. Furthermore, user-generated content on a website is owned by the user making the content available. There is probably even something in the terms of use for this website regarding that. In most cases a website can't be held responsible for user-generated content unless it is facilitating or encouraging it in some way.
