Lawmaker: Iran to Stop Oil Sales to Europe This Week

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Parliament will approve a bill on Sunday requiring the government to immediately halt oil exports to Europe, a prominent lawmaker said after the European Union complied with the United States' hostile policies against Iran and decided to ban oil imports from the country.

The law to be debated in Iran's parliament on Sunday could halt exports of oil to the European Union as early as next week, Vice-Chairman of the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Hossein Ibrahimi told FNA on Friday.

"On Sunday, the parliament will have to approve a 'double emergency' bill calling for a halt in the export of Iranian oil to Europe starting next week," Ibrahimi said.

Parliament is pushing for the export ban to deny the EU a 6-month phase-in of the embargo on Iranian oil that the bloc agreed on Monday as part of a raft of tough new western sanctions aimed at forcing Iran to curb its civilian nuclear program.

Also, member of the Parliament's Energy Commission Moayed Hosseini Sadr told FNA that "if the deputies arrive at the conclusion that the Iranian oil exports to Europe must be halted, the parliament will not delay a moment (in passing the bill)".
"If Iran's oil exports to Europe, which is about 18 percent (of Iran's total oil exports) come to a halt, the Europeans will surely be taken by surprise, and will understand the power of Iran and will realize that the Islamic establishment will not succumb to the Europeans' policies," he said.

Meantime, Iran's OPEC governor Mohammad Ali Khatibi told the Iranian labors news agency that the country might choose to raise the issue at the next meeting of the oil cartel.

IAEA Chief praises Iran as a peace-seeking country

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has praised Iran as a “peace-seeking” country, in the face of increasing allegations by Western powers against Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program.

Yukiya Amano made the remark at a Friday ceremony marking the 33rd anniversary of the victory of Iran’s Islamic revolution at the country’s embassy in the Austrian capital of Vienna. The ceremony was attended by high-ranking Iranian and foreign diplomats.

The anniversary of founder of Islamic revolution Imam Khomeini's return to Iran on February 1, 1979, marks the beginning of the Ten Days of Dawn celebrations, which culminate on February 11 -- the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, Amano held friendly talks with Iranian diplomats, including Iran's envoy to the IAEA Ali Asghar Soltanieh and Tehran’s Ambassador to Vienna Ebrahim Sheibani. Amano also congratulated both the Iranian nation and government on the anniversary of the triumph of the 1979 Revolution.

IAEA’s Deputy Director General Herman Nackaerts also attended the event. The presence of the agency’s top officials was interpreted by other diplomats as an important and positive sign with regard to Iran’s nuclear issue.

The US, Israel, and their European allies accuse Iran of pursuing a military nuclear program and have convinced the UN Security Council to impose four rounds of sanctions on the country.

Tehran has categorically refuted Western allegation, saying that as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency it has the right to acquire and develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

Iran has also repeatedly opened up its nuclear facilities to IAEA inspectors and called for dialogue and diplomatic means to allay the so-called Western concerns over its nuclear activities.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy put his reputation as a stalwart friend of Israel on the line on Wednesday, telling the Jewish nation that military action was no way to deal with nuclear-minded Iran.

Speaking at a dinner hosted by the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions of France, Sarkozy affirmed his commitment to Israel’s security, but emphasized that “the solution is never military.”

“The solution is political, the solution is diplomatic, the solution is in sanctions,” Sarkozy said.

As the chorus of European voices discouraging Israel from unilaterally confronting Iran grows louder, the Jewish nation will feel pressured to ask the EU to help it manage the Middle Eastern tumult. As Philadelphia Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry has explained, this pressure will lead Israel to “become ‘lovers’ with the Germans. This move will lead to their destruction. It is not the Arabs who will destroy them. The friendship between Germany and Israel will lead to one of the biggest double-crosses in the history of man!”

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addressing Iranians marking the 33rd anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution in the capital city of Tehran, February 11, 2012

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has warned of the emergence of a “huge storm of global awakening” that aims to put an end to the hegemony of the Western powers.

Speaking at the Saturday assembly of millions of Iranians marking the 33rd anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution in the capital city of Tehran, Ahmadinejad called on the Western powers to take heed of the world nations’ demands against the backdrop of the spreading popular movements across the globe.

“The huge awakening is underway. The storm of global awakening is underway. If you do not join the nations, this storm will uproot tyranny and oppression. It is to your interest to be on the side of the nations,” the Iranian President said, addressing the Western powers.

Ahmadinejad described Marxism and Capitalism as the most tyrannical systems in the entire human history, saying, “Marxism is gone and the sounds of the bones of capitalism being crushed have echoed through the world.”

The Iranian chief executive insisted that the world is in need of a new order which guarantees justice, righteousness, prosperity, security and dignity for all humans, and argued that such universal governance should transcend all racist stigmas and be based on respect for humanity.

He attributed all the world’s problems to the US domination and Israel’s existence as Washington and Tel Aviv have been propping up all the autocratic regimes across the world.

Ahmadinejad made reference to the West’s escalating pressure against Iran over the country’s peaceful nuclear program and argued that the Western powers are in fact against Iran’s progress and they employ the nuclear issue as a pretext to hinder the country’s achievements.

He insisted that Iran will never be diverted from its true path “even an iota” and that the nation has managed to change hegemonic power’s discourse.

The Iranian president warned the Middle Eastern countries against the enemy plots to sow discord in the region and urged the regional nations to exercise vigilance against major developments unfolding .

Indeed the ptb will get an awakening. I am almost 100% positive the Iranian people are not going to roll over. I bid everyone the best in the near future. Bullys run into people who just refuse to stand down sooner later.
