Iran will "consider" joint action with US in Iraq, Hassan Rouhani says

Iran's president has given the clearest hint yet that Tehran is prepared to cast aside 35 years of hostility in an alliance of convenience with the US to combat Sunni militants in Iraq

Iran will consider joining forces with the United States to combat Sunni militants in Iraq, Hassan Rouhani, the Iranian president, said on Saturday in the clearest sign yet that the Islamic Republic is ready to set aside its decades-old enmity with Washington.

The Iranian leader's cautiously worded remarks came at a news conference in Tehran amid rising speculation that the recent gains of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) could force the two adversaries to forge an alliance of convenience.

"All countries need to embark on joint effort regarding terrorism," Mr Rouhani said after being asked if Iran was prepared to cooperate with America in Iraq.

"At the moment, it's the government of Iraq and the people of Iraq that are fighting terrorism.

"We have not seen the US do anything for now. Any time the Americans start to take action against terrorist groups, we can consider that."

Iran are crazy if they do! Haven't they learnt that being America's lackeys has made little difference in the past. They play diplomatic games behind the scene and then get dicked over publicly by the US every time.

If they have any sense they will leave America to get on with it. It is a mess, but it isn't their mess. Sell them oil, if they want it and want to lift their self righteous sanctions, but other than that, keep well away from Amadica and THEIR war on/of terror :shooting:

If anything, it will be Iran that steps in to help fight. Surely you don't believe Iran is going to sit idly by and
give up Iraq, particularly in the Shiite dominated south. I know the current administration in Washington will in no way join forces with Iran. But in fact, removing Saddam Hussein played right into Iran's hands to begin with. It didn't take a rocket scientist to see what would happen when America pulled it's forces out.
It won't take a rocket scientist to see how this will turn out either.

Iran imo should be the 'super power' in the middle east. Things would be better for it I think.

But why do they care? They hate Iraq after what they did (backed by America) Iran are Persians and have little time for the rest of the middle east really. They only fund hezbollah as some biproxy to keep the Israelis occupied.

Even the shite thing I would doubt they cared that much about??

Lol was saying this donkers ago that all these countries indigenous folks will reform and retaliate back...

The middle east wars have been nothing more than shenanigans with the deaths of thousands apon thousands of our troops and the uncountable innocent victims including children / woman / and pensioners will be avenged

FFS it is human nature to hold such grudges

Iran sends troops into Iraq to aid fight against Isis militants
Tehran hints at cooperation with US to aid Nouri al-Maliki as jihadist group threatens to take Baghdad

Iran has sent 2,000 advance troops to Iraq in the past 48 hours to help tackle a jihadist insurgency, a senior Iraqi official has told the Guardian.

The confirmation comes as the Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani, said Iran was ready to support Iraq from the mortal threat fast spreading through the country, while the Iraqi prime minister, Nouri al-Maliki, called on citizens to take up arms in their country's defence.

Why do I get the feeling that the U.S. is late to come into this and take over iraq again.
Now that Iran has soldiers in Iraq with approval of Iraq things should get interesting.
I feel this has backfired for the nwo military arm.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2 ... -isis.html

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), now threatening Baghdad, was funded for years by wealthy donors in Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, three U.S. allies that have dual agendas in the war on terror.

I reckon those terrorists in syria that got evicted by Assad from Syria want to regroup in Iraq instead
thinking it's weaker I suppose. They sure get alot of funding.
6000 thousand soldiers would not be cheap to feed and arm.

Over in ukraine soldiers are defecting still because the U.S. backed zio junta isn't feeding them,
just arming them. :ugeek:
