Is Osama Bin Laden Dead or Alive?

Is Osama Bin Laden dead or alive? I remember in the movie and book 1984, the arch enemy that people were always told to be afraid and angry at was Emmanuel Goldstein. In the book and movie people would be formed in huge crowds, and they would perform huge ceremonies in which a huge image of Goldstein’s face was displayed.

The people would then yell and throw their fists up at the image of Goldstein. They would have to do this to show their allegiance to the party. Is this what is going on in America, is Osama Bin Laden the contemporary version of Goldstein?

Recently Osama Bin Laden came out in a video interview in which he was against “climate change.” Yes you heard it right; Osama Bin Laden is against climate change. Apart from all the things he has to do to keep himself alive, if he is alive, he now worries about climate change and global warming.

Lt. Colonel Anthony Shaffer, the author of Operation Dark Heart thinks that Osama Bin Laden is still alive and that we need to go into Pakistan. Meanwhile Benazir Bhutto, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, did an interview before she was assassinated in which she said that Osama Bin Laden was already dead and murdered. Who does she say killed Osama Bin Laden, none other than the guy who killed Daniel Pearl?

Meanwhile the image of Osama Bin Laden changes from time to time. In videos he is shown writing with his right hand, when it is known that he is left handed. Some people have purported that some of the videos are fakes.

So is Osama Bin Laden alive or dead? If he is dead, is the government using his image to further their goals, refusing to let the people know that he is dead, just like in the movie 1984 because his image is too powerful not to use.

Nice post Simple and a very good question. He may be alive and well either living in Pakistan or Iran. I found the first link laughable, but I try to represent all sides :roll:

In any case, he is now a symbol and I guess it doesn't really matter.

strange, i did some investigating on the bhutto interview from the first link. apparently omar sheikh, the guy that allegedly murdered bin laden has been detained in a pakistani prison since 2002, so he would have had to have killed bin laden before that, but there's this link showing how in 2007, right before the interview from that link was conducted, saying that bin laden was still alive.

it doesn't really matter does it? its not like he has any say in what comes out his mouth or for that matter fifty fifty chance that if another video comes out of him blastin on the us its not even gonna be him .... again .... but i guess "don't worry about the men behind the curtain" seems to be the general consensus here so no surprise ....
