Blame the people living there, not realizing what it means or raising any cry about it.

You know so many are torn because they believe it will help drop crime rates when at best these cameras help solve just a few more cases a year and crime rates may fall at first but they always rise back to their original levels if not higher.

Once we become acclimated to being watched every where we go people go back to being them selves criminals included. So outside of private property owners using them I think governments should stay out of the spying on citizens biz.

Pretty freaky here, in this little town, they have cameras at 4 intersections, that can keep an eye on anyone leaving, or coming into town. The only places they have them too.

Come to Sydney aust, You walk around this city and are quickly convinced that The truman Show was actually a documentry about life in Sydney, there are cameras everywhere you go, the shops, banks, roads, parks,train stations. Its all about "public safety", they may not stop you getting mugged and killed but at least we will have a nice video of it for the police christmas party. Its all about giving the public the illusion of safety, and keeping an eye on you is just a bonus.
