It seems like there is a massive internet attack going on. I'm not that tech savvy, but I've noticed that my firewall is blocking a lot of DOS ( Denial Of Service ) attacks. This could be a reason why some people are not able to load a web page or a video instantly like before. It has gotten to the point where it happens every 2 minutes, and sometimes every 10 minutes. I can't seem to originate where the attacks are coming from since the "hacker" is using ip spoofing and several other computers to perform the attacks.

I do know that it is trying to connect to ports 445, 137, 22 , 139 and several higher port numbers.

I researched about this and it turns out a lot of people ( even home pc's ) are experiences this not just web servers. I do know how to minimize the threat since my ISP did not include a modem with a NAT or IDS hardware firewall. Using a free firewall product will stop them from connecting to your local area network ( your computer ). As well as stopping remote access services, and Internet connection sharing. There is a registry entry to turn off port 445 ( on your local computer ), and can be found easily on google.

If you do not use a NAT firewall consider downloading a free firewall such as Zonealarm, or Comodo Internet security. Both are free and I have used both, they do work to block these attacks. I am currently using Zonealarm free since it automatically finds my network. And in my opinion works better than Comodo.

Another thing you can do is go to start/run/ type cmd / then type netstat -an / this will show which ports are actively listening or being used on your computer. The fewer the better, and if you are using zonealarm it filters IP traffic over its own port in order to keep intruders out.

Just thought I'd share the info. I did see a forum post on videos not loading correctly or having to wait for them. This is indeed a reaction to a DOS attack. (although it could be something else)

Here is some products that are free and can help protect your computer.
MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware - I use it and it works great do a full scan.
Avast! Antivirus - I use it and it works o.k.
Zonealarm free firewall - I use it and I.M.O. works the best.
Comodo internet security free - I did use it but it is kind of complicated to set the firewall.
Make sure your computer is up-to-date with security fixes from Microsoft Update.

Even though I am using zonealarm without a NAT firewall I can still notice "lag" in my internet when they attack. (But they can't get in) I am going to go buy one ASAP.

On another note when scanning your computer for viruses or malware disconnect it from the internet. Certain viruses can hide easily.

Hope this helps! :sunny:

I think that with all this "hacking" going on it might bring about that Internet 2 that I've been hearing about. People will get fed up with it and would rather have safety than freedom. I don't know just something I thought about recently.
