Kabbalah is merely a tool or system with neither positive or negative inherent qualities, in my opinion.
All depends on intent.
I think the comparison to a Ouija board is misleading, but even a Ouija board has no power to do anything on its own, it's just a piece of cardboard until someone directs their intent through the use of it. Even then, it is still just a piece of cardboard. "It" is incapable of doing anything.
Any negativity arising from the use of Kabbalah or Ouija boards or Tarot cards or grimoires or yarrow sticks, etc. is invested in it by the intent of the user.
It is true that Ouija boards are designed to call spirits, which can be a dangerous undertaking, where the use of the Kabbalah has a much broader scope and is basically a diagram that can be used to describe and understand many things.
Sure, there are people who use Kabbalistic practices in negative ways, but just as a gun or a knife can be used for good or evil, the same applies to Kabbalah.

It's true that you should never give a shotgun to a monkey.

Ok, this woman is seriously annoying...
Know what the problem with the Kabbala is? It's people taking it too seriously, on both sides of the aisle. That's how people get messed up by it.
I can't think of any better advertisement for a book of magic other than the Pope condemning it.
