Liam Byrne, the former Chief Secretary to the Treasury, last week wrote a letter for his successor - the Liberal Democrat David Laws - stating: "I’m afraid to tell you there’s no money left.”

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Mr Laws said: "When I arrived at my desk on the very first day as Chief Secretary, I found a letter from the previous chief secretary to give me some advice, I assumed, on how I conduct myself over the months ahead.

"Unfortunately, when I opened it, it was a one-sentence letter which simply said ’Dear Chief Secretary, I’m afraid to tell you there’s no money left’, which was honest but slightly less helpful advice than I had been expecting."

The letter - which Mr Byrne claims was meant to be humorous - represents a sign of the stark challenges facing the new Coalition Government to reduce Britain's record £163 billion budget deficit.

Time to arrest Gordon Brown for treason against the people and state. Brown sold the gold reserves of England to prop up the EURO against the advice of the Bank of England and 6bn was lost in the process.

Well it wasn't really England's gold anyway because the people of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland also owned a proportionate share. And, to be honest it doesn't surprise me that Rupert Murdoch's rags are painting the conservatives as victims in this because I'm sure they'll be right behind the bullshit coalition when they start cutting hundreds of thousands of jobs. I bet they won't be impartial when the inevitable industrial acion begins.

I have a way of cutting the deficit. Tax the wealthy. It's that simple but you won't find it said in The Sun or SKY news because they are edited for the benefit of these very same people. I was unfortunate enough to grow up in a fairly working class area of Glasgow and watched first hand the mess the previous conservative government mad of the place where I lived. Labour got a lot of things wrong but millions of peoples lives are in a better position now than before Tony Blair got in. I am bracing myself for mass unemployment, crime, desperation leading to even more drug addiction and all the other things that come with social stagnation and inequality.

and the big lie in all this is that theres plenty of money to go round, but some folks are fully greedy and refuse to share,[wealthy mob]
but whats even more worrying,is that this seems like there is a deliberate attempt to bankrupt the western world,
i bet so the ptb can bring in police state, nwo etc, when were all hungry and theres anarchy,we will accept anything wont we,?

Taxing the wealthy is not only short-sighted, it would be very detrimental to a country's future because it is these people who are responsible for most of the productivity. Yes, some gain their wealth by criminal means, but those who gain it honestly are the driving force behind innovation in the economy. Penalizing productivity will lead to a third world nation.

The solution is to reduce the size of government, eradicate the nanny-state mentality and create your own job, rather than waiting for one to appear on your doorstep. I am surrounded by innovators and entrepreneurs who are self-made. Anyone can do it. You don't need a post-secondary education to do it.

It's time to stop crying and take responsibility for yourself and your future. The government is surely NOT going to do it for you.
Know thyself.
