Liberal Activist Compares US Border Patrol Agents to the KKK

This is community activist Elena Herrada speaking on a panel discussion at the US Social Forum in Detroit, MI yesterday – watch:



I had never heard of Herrada but she is not exactly a nobody. Although she seems to be more of a local activist in Detroit, she has been quoted frequently in national publications on immigrant rights issues, and The NY Times Opinionator blog featured a story from her last June.

And this is not some fringe liberal gathering. The US Social Forum is a MAJOR gathering of radical liberal activists (i.e. socialists), community organizers, and union leaders. Their slogan is “another world is possible, another U.S. is necessary”. Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, and Danny Glover were among those I spotted in other video clips…and I believe Bertha Lewis and Van Jones will be in attendance as well. This could very well be the most important leftist conference this year.

Herrada’s comments in this clip are deplorable and are as good of an example of anti-government incitement as you will find anywhere.

But of course the real story here is that you won’t hear about comments like these in the mainstream media. They are far too busy trying to marginalize the Tea Party movement. For the past year an army of liberal and mainstream media have been diligently covering every major tea party event, looking for anything which might be construed as racist or inappropriately anti-government. And of course any single example, on the rare occasion one is found, is gleefully magnified throughout the media as an indictment against the conservative movement as a whole. (I am not oblivious to the fact that one could question whether I am guilty of the same here, but I’m not exactly Keith Olbermann or Ed Schultz.)

So where is the major media in covering far left events such as this one? Mostly silent, as it turns out. Oh, you get an odd puff piece like this one at the Huffington Post about the “scrappy group of activists” convening in Detroit. But for the most part the media just chooses to pretend that these groups and individuals do not exist. Conveniently ignoring that many of their policy platforms are in line with the agenda being pushed by mainstream Democrats in Washington D.C.

The events in Detroit will continue throughout the weekend. I will post anything else interesting I run across.
