That means those black splotches have got to be HUMONGOUS. I'm definitely thinking they are just soil discolorations due to the temperature increase.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. lol

i seen some videos awhile back called tree's on mars , they look alot like these too. I think nasa said its some kind of water vapor or gas that freezes and melts then freezes, there is a huge tempture change between night and day on mars.

But considering these photos were taken from 200 miles above, I'd guess it's more of just a discoloration of the sand/soil, possibly caused by a chemical reaction in the soil due to the temperature increase.

I'm not convinced this is anything remarkable.
