I have to say the information is awesome in it's magnitude. I considered scenarios like this in the past whether it be the "kill shot" from the sun, or an impulse nuke in the atmosphere.
Been called a redneck and racist I don't know how many times for simply saying, be prepared. Buy guns, have a generator, keep reconstitutable food, enough supplies to last 3 months, then pray for the best.
