:look:

I put this in the conspiracy thread because for some of us every Stanley Kubrick film is a conspiracy encoded into his films. (Saturn :x )

ENJOY!

Watch long-lost 1966 documentary that digs deep into 2001: A Space Odyssey

A vintage documentary going behind the scenes of 2001: A Space Odyssey has surfaced, delving into the making of the 1968 film two years before it blew our collective minds.

Rediscovered by Open Culture, the 20+ minute featurette looks at everything from the future of space exploration (circa the 1960s) to the making of Stanley Kubrick’s eventual classic. For sci-fi fans, this footage is a treasure trove of awesomeness.

From the development of the centrifuge set used for the space station, to the look and direction of the film, this mini-doc is a fascinating window into the genesis of an “unusual motion picture” that would go on to inspire filmmakers for decades.

Interesting stuff Kinninigan.

I want to be alone with my essential sea…
I don’t want to speak for a long time,
Silence! I want to learn,
I want to know if I exist.

Good stuff Kinni :flop:

Kubrick was a visionary, as was Clarke. Two giants of the arts/entertainment world (and others?) coming together to make a movie that is still awesome today. Still discussed and argued over today, some 45 years later. How many of the 'great' films made today will have such impact? (The Matrix/Alien maybe?)

Wonderful find - thanks.
