Many studies have shown that statistically speaking, you are more likely to shoot yourself or a family member than you are to ever shoot a "criminal".

Man, you ought to do something about that. You got a concealed carry permit for those monkeys?

This guy broke no laws in the US, I don't understand all the outrage.
Surely it's understandable that all the media attention put on gun crime right now people would want to protect themselves? I know here in the UK that means shut the curtains and lock the doors, but I see no problem with this guy carrying a weapon to protect himself if he's acting within the laws of the land at all.
One thing I've noticed about all these nutcases in the US is that they almost always tend to go mental with a gun in a place where guns are illegal to have, where are all the arguments to make guns legal everywhere in the US since these shooting are occurring in supposed gun-free zones?
In Mexico guns are illegal, criminals still use them and their murder rates are higher even than that of the US. The problem is not the gun, it is the mental person wanting to cause harm and his reasons for doing so that are the problem which needs addressing. You can't blame the tools simply because if I for example in the UK wanted to murder the occupants of a cinema or school I could do so simply and cheaply with nothing more than a few bottles of spirits, a lighter and some cloth, all available cheaply at any shop on the high-street, it would create more chaos than even a gun & also give me a better chance of escape in the inevitable chaos. The difference is that I have the sense to not kill a bunch of innocent people, the question is why do some people think it is ok to do so?
Here in the UK carrying a knife carries a mandatory 5 year prison sentence, does it stop kids carrying knives? No. I personally know of a person that is serving 5 years for carrying a knife and he couldn't care less what laws the government makes because he is not what you would call a law-abiding citizen like the man in the original video in this thread, he is in-fact, an idiot.

You sure about that?
Because this study says roughly 2.5 million incidents where guns were just SHOWN has deterred a crime, are you sure that 2.5 million people have shot themselves with a gun?:

No it appears hat 680 are dead because of accidents, where around 11,000 are injured:

2.5 Million saved > 11,000 injured because of negligence.

What's with this "deterred" bullshit? I said shot. Shot isn't something ambiguous or difficult to measure. Your "deterred" stat is at least partially arrived at by gun owners self reporting.

Try to stick to the topic if you can Scouser, kthnxbai.
Yeah sorry.
I agree with most of what you said apart from the first part, yes he has the right to carry a gun to defend himself but the issue wasn't that he was carrying a gun, but that he was carrying it outside of his jacket in view of everyone. Can you honestly say that wouldn't have spooked a few people in a busy mall not long after recent public shootings?
If he had just concealed his weapon there wouldn't be any fuss, and he knew that, that's why he is an idiot.
