Mumbai Police Seized a 5kg. Ball of Uranium, Possibly Headed for PakistanHere is a crazy set of stories related to uranium theft in India, by individuals who were allegedly connected with gangster Chota Rajan, who is allegedly running India's terrorist program in Pakistan, from India's embassies in Afghanistan. There are many scary elements of this story, none of them confirmed, as is the case of all spy-related stuff, foremost of which is the description of the uranium as a 5kg. "ball." When I read that, I think of this

5kg. is approximately the minimum amount of enriched uranium needed for a small nuke. Later reports claim that the material was U-238, depleted uranium, but another by the Daily Mail claims that it was highly enriched. Part of the mystery is that the nuclear lab which tested the material was burned by a small incendiary device before results could be obtained. The Daily Mail article (excerpt at the end of this article) alludes to the criminal connections between Chota and the investigating Mumbai police.
Why was depleted uranium causing such a stink? US forces are scattering it all over the region, especially in Afghanistan. The big question that hangs in the air, concerns enriched uranium--what purpose could someone in India's underworld have for a potential bomb core, other than possibly constructing their own device? Could this be part of a big intelligence operation connected with American worries and preparations for seizing Pakistani nukes, perhaps a staged "false flag" attack, where American Special Ops. units "capture" militants who allegedly raided Pakistan's nuclear stash? Consider the prevailing theory that India and Pakistan have co-opted the local criminal underworld in their operations against each other, with Pakistan's ISI allegedly using Dawood Ibrahim and India's RAW using Dawood's enemy and former partner Chota Rajan. If it was a false flag, India would have considered it repayment in kind for the Mumbai attack which is blamed on Dawood's associates. Stay tuned...there has to be a lot more to this story.]

After the Kaiga and Tarapur incidents, here comes another one that will make you wonder about the security systems in place at the country’s nuclear facilities.
On Tuesday a scientist and two other men were arrested by the Crime Branch of the Navi Mumbai police for possessing five kg of depleted uranium. While the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board said that the seized material did not pose any radiological hazard, police said it could be used to make explosives.
