NASA: Voyager 1 Nearing Edge Of Solar System
POSTED: Monday, December 13, 2010UPDATED: 3:31 pm EST December 13, 2010
LOS ANGELES -- NASA say the long-running Voyager 1 spacecraft hurtling toward the edge of the solar system has reached another milestone.
Since 2004, the unmanned probe has been exploring a region of space where the solar wind slows abruptly and crashes into the thin gas between stars.
NASA said Monday that recent readings show the solar wind has slowed to zero, meaning the spacecraft is getting ever closer to the solar system's edge.
It'll take about four more years before Voyager 1 completely exits the solar system and enters interstellar space.
Voyager 1 and its twin Voyager 2 were launched in 1977 to explore the giant planets and have kept on going.

Like other races in the galaxy don't know we are here . I think it's a pretty safe bet that we have had visitors to this planet and solar system for many millenia. We have been beaming signals into space for over a hundred years. The FIRST was probably Marconi's original transmission, or even earlier when he and others were experimenting with what was to become radio. Some of the signals "leaked", no doubt, into space.

The chances of coming across one of 2 small space probes in the vastness of space that contain plaques with our relative position in the galaxy would be incredibly small i'd imagine.

:hiho: To Dtv mate anyways :flop:

are these craft sending out any kind of signal...... (i don't know) :headscratch:
.

What's at stake is more than 1 small country, it is a big idea,
a new world order,
where diverse nations are drawn together in a common cause
to achieve the universal aspirations of mankind

it's long on new and it's short on order
