New Russian Gun laws

It appears Russia is going the other way following the Colorado cinema incident. Rather than crackdown the authorities are just about to pass laws for a three tier gun license system. Postmen and other public workers will be allowed to arm themselves at the highest 3rd level after passing stringent mental health and criminal record testing.
The thought behind this is that crime will be reduced. for more on this go to RT.com.

I would think this is more to do with pushing up arm sales rather than personal safety of the Russian citizens, but i guess that is a rather cynical point of view.

Not sure of the actual intent of the order, but it sounds feasible to me.

Though personally I would like to see the specific designation towards the civilian population.

Though you're probably right about the whole arm sales thing, especially since the Russian mob controls more than the government does.

Arming more individuals versus the police and army in my mind is never a bad idea - regardless of the country.

This could be a wait and see thing, and I'll definitely be watching closer myself :flop:

I take the position that flooding a system with more guns, creates more problems. It solves non. They should all be illegal. Even in the military. Knives only.

T2R - I agree with you on principle, but it obviously wouldn't work because they will never remove the guns from the police and military.

Though, giving THEM knives and the civilians guns would definitely cut down on a lot of abuse.

But of course that's a two-edged sword as well (no pun intended). :flop:

thats worked really well here in australia, another criminal shooting in sydney yesterday, so now the only people who have guns are crims and cops, which leaves nothing to protect ourselves, cant even use knives here, banned, so now we are all helpless in the face of crims with guns, defenceless. :vomit:

For the last time, guns don't kill people, people kill people. Sure you can out law guns, that way only the law and the scumbags will have them. Even if every gun in the world disappeared in an instant, during that same instant, someone would kill another person or many people. There are some sickos in this world who don't feel, they don't feel a thing. When it comes mass murder by building a bomb or poisoning the water, then tell me what use is a gun then. Just sayin.
