NK satellite will fly near East Coast

if the announced orbit on South is the real one, that will put the North Korean satellite on a near polar orbit. (if successful). Check Google where that leads on the other side of the Earth - Antarctica - South America - East Coast. Each next circle it will move West, covering more and more of the US territory.

IF, and that is a big IF, North Korea has put a super-EMP weapon in the satellite ( that is believed to be tested in one of the nuke tests), then it could explode it at desired location. Either over neutral waters near East Coast wiping out the grid of the East US, or waiting several more orbits to include the entire continental US. Depending on the goals.

If it is just a weather satellite nothing will happen. We just don't know. We will learn pretty soon.

Notice if NY, Boston, DC electricity is shut down in the hours after the launch, you will not be able to drive your car too. You will stay where you are, no matter what comes next. No matter the consequences that will follow for North Korea (it is doubtful a US nuclear attack as a result of "malfunction" of satellite over neutral waters..., and it wouldn't decide the problems of US grid, rather will move towards WW3). Instead, if no nuclear response, then the world will hurry to repair the US grid. Just suggestions. With such unknown factor as the crazy NK leadership that thinks in cathegories of 50s with tech of 2000s everything is possible.

You may decide to spend the next few days in prayer, especially in the week of God's mercy Novena. And put some radio receiver in improvised Faraday Case.

I don't say it is for certain (and how could it be) that North Korea will attack directly USA with its first successful satellite. But that probability exists and cannot be completely ruled out. We remember the rhetoric of the regime that warned to make in USA, SK, Japan "sea of fire". The leader has changed, not the generals who still keep their command functions. I hope nothing bad will happen to America on the day of the launch or later.
