Here are four explanations for you to think about. These are just possibilities, as to why earthquakes of a higher magnitude, have been occurring more often than usual.

The earth is going through a rough cycle, just like it did, over 2000 years ago.

The earth is heading for a galactic alignment, which is suppose to occur, sometime in 2012.

Gravity Waves are causing more earthquakes.

When the bombs go off in the middle east wars, they are very disruptive to the earth.

Keep in mind that I am giving you possibilities. I basically found these explanations, while I was doing research, on this very subject.
