Ok,was looking up some of the games i used to play when i had computer games consoles. The 'strike' series of games were the ones i enjoyed,i am making some interesting connections...
With regards to Soviet Strike, what do you think. The game was released in 1996.
0.18 - 'Terrorists and mad-men have created a whole 'New World Dis-order'
Anyone else find stuff like this pre 911?
Soviet strike - Some of the cut-scenes have an innuendo about the murder of President John F. Kennedy, hinting that he was killed by the military-industrial complex.
Wikipedia- And Interestingly, Urban Strike(released in 1994)shows a terrorist attack on the World Trade Center towers in 2001, although the method of attack differs, the game's primary villain attacks New York with a laser weapon.
More on Urban Strike- In a fictional 2001, a millionaire media mogal, former presidential candidate, and fanatic cult leader named H. R. Malone plans on toppling the government using a super weapon he is constructing.
The only game in the series that seems to have no correlation to real world events is 'nuclear strike'.

I've been a gamer since I was 10 yo and that's a looong time.
Time when there were old orange CGI monitors and 16 Mhz was tha bomb.
Atari and Comodore the old grandaddy of the consoles was commin out.
Maybe I was brainwashed in the process as I really played all them games till today.
I don't feel that I have been brainwashed as I tend to have a large outlook on the world and take nothing for granted.

SKEPTIC - One who instinctively or habitually doubts, questions, disagrees with assertions or generally accepted conclusions.
And tries to prove these assertions/claims with scientific facts.

Not sure it is brainwashing. But I am sure many terrorists get ideas from movies, games, and books.

I actually make video games for a living and have been doing one thing or another within the video game industry since around 1993. So, while I can't say that the developer's who made the above mentioned game didn't have a form of propaganda intention, I can say that in my experience within the industry the last thing on our minds is how to brainwash people.
Now, can I say that we might bring political or recent social influential ideas into a game only because we always try to find things that people can relate to in one way or another. Besides, brainwashing is more like what you might find in something like the modern day movie "Conspiracy Theory" where they had Mel tied to a chair, eyes propped open, and various imagery/videos/audio played repeatedly with a form of chemical stimulation (i.e. drug) that forces the mind to wander outside of the normal and into the realm of "abnormal". The principle behind "brainwashing" is to remove fundamental moral/social behaviors from the individual in order to re-apply new behavior.
Playing a video game is about the same as teaching children the "London Bridges" or "ring around the rosy" songs like we did back in the 50's, 60's, 70's, and into portions of the 80's... while it depicts a song children sang at a time when there was plague and death. The tone of the songs as we taught them after the period they were created was a "light and cheerful" sounding tone, however the content of the songs was more about a memory of a time of plague and death...was teaching the children this song a form of "brainwashing"?
In that sense, you can look around you day and night on TV you would be able to find all sorts of content that one could view as "Brainwashing" if you labeled all content of this nature as that. However, I think the term you are looking for is more like "Propaganda"... and that I think has two forms:
Government influenced Propaganda: This is information delivered in the form of some artistic style that depicts an underlining "influential bias" that would benefit the government's desires and wishes by influencing their "society's" behavior through mild suggestion and repetition of such type of content.
Socially influenced Propaganda: This is information delivered in the form of some artistic style that depicts and underlining "influential bias" that is an attempt to influence other members of society by members of society. It can be for political and/or non-political purposes.
The two are very similar, however the former (historically) has been a bad thing and the later (historically) has helped society (as a whole) improve and evolve. I am sure you could go back and find "the gray in between" both as well as the contrary to what I just wrote, however the fact is that socially generated propaganda tends to be "for good causes" historically and the government generated propaganda tends to be "for the purposes of politics". Depending upon which side of the fence you are on really depends upon if it is a good or bad thing.
Everything is relative... but I can honestly tell you...as far as I have experienced in the game industry...no "secret groups" plotting to brainwash society...

Cheers,

Do you want to say that again...it's kinda contradictory...to me
If I wanted a great idea for a terrorist attack, I'd pick up a few NYT bestsellers.
