Pretty ... flowery carpet, right, from Hitler's Berlin bunker

A PIECE of carpet from Adolf Hitler's Berlin bunker has turned up - in a Yorkshire museum.

The patch was "liberated" from the underground lair in 1945 by the Green Howards infantry regiment.

It was found in an envelope when staff were sorting through archive rooms in the regimental museum in Richmond, North Yorks.

The pattern has yellow flowers and blue leaves on a fawn background.

Museum director Lynda Powell said: "We were surprised at how domestic the pattern is - certainly a contrast to images we have of the bunker."
