He starts off telling us that the concept of Islamophobia doesnt exist, then calmly commences to verbalize the narrow minded one sided view that is the very definition of this 'non existing Islamophobism'.

Definition of Islamophobia:

1) Islam is seen as a monolithic bloc, static and unresponsive to change.
2) Islam is seen as separate and 'other'. It does not have values in common with other cultures, is not affected by them and does not influence them.
3) Islam is seen as inferior to the West. It is seen as barbaric, irrational, primitive and sexist.
4) Islam is seen as violent, aggressive, threatening, supportive of terrorism and engaged in a 'clash of civilisations'.
5) Islam is seen as a political ideology and is used for political or military advantage.
6) Criticisms made of the West by Islam are rejected out of hand.
7) Hostility towards Islam is used to justify discriminatory practices towards Muslims and exclusion of Muslims from mainstream society.
8) Anti-Muslim hostility is seen as natural or normal.

Whats ironic in all this is that those that agree with good ol' pat here, and view Islam as a whole equalling the radical part of this religious congregation, have thesame simpleminded / twisted state of mind 'Muslim' extremists do concerning the non Islamic world.

Simpleminded tools.

I was wondering when you were going to chime in.

Ofcourse there are voices that protest and seperate themselves from the acts of these extremists.

Our mainstream media just doesnt dish it out to us, and if it does; its overwhelmed under all the anti Islamic c.q. extremist exposure. Lets not fool ourselves here, the Islam = terror soundbite / view is promoted heavily [and extremist groups are funded heavily behind closed doors]. Just as the Red Scare back in the day, depicting people like ourselves as a 'mortal enemy', by our true mortal enemy.

So how does your remark work when projected on 'the West', I wonder.
In what way, would you think, do the 'Islamic extremists' look upon the West?

Would they see the relative few that protest against Western imperialism, corporatism, against the continuous warmongering?

Or would they, just like us regarding Islam, be barraged with pictures of Western soldiers acting in a criminal fashion? Thinking, just like you in this case, that "there doesn't seem to be many voices heard within the Western community itself in protest and to separate themselves from the actions of Western nations"?

It takes a clearheaded individual to look through the 'movie' being played before our eyes and distinguish the nuance.. ignore the attempts to simplify reality and distill a level of objectivity. Those individuals are an endangered species, people are becoming more and more simplified. Easy to manipulate, easy to lie to, easy to hate anyone our 'movers and shakers' want us to hate. Even if it are your neighbours.

We are very able to identify the faults and shortcomings of those we dont identify as 'us'. But we are gravely inapt to identify the faults and shortcomings of those we do identify as 'us'.

When one of 'us' acts in an extreme fashion, its an individual case. When someone from the 'non- us' camp acts in an extreme fashion, we are quick to judge the whole group we see them as belonging to.

And if someone amongst the 'us camp' does in fact criticize the Western construct / actions, he or she is called 'an apologist for the non- us group'. In this case, 'a Muslim apologist'.
