why the need to arm our selves to the teeth? protection? personal gratification?

If you understand tyranny Stalin, Mao,and Hitler killed 100's of millions of people with no regard
for human life! The founders of America understood this! That's why they said a well armed
militia of the people not the government. To this extent it's simply self preservation of liberty
justice and pursuit of happiness.

so whats wrong with simply walking away?
we can choose to say 'no, i don't want to be a part of this any more' and walk away.
why the need to arm our selves to the teeth? protection? personal gratification?

your dead right as usual ironman, when it starts, it'll be a blood bath.

probably nothing i'd guess.

"lets rise up against our oppressors, lets get our freedoms back"
then what happens? you get up and go to work and complain about taxes, the government and how you have no freedom.
Half of america wouldn't know what to do if they had utmost freedom.
the other half still think they HAVE freedom.

Don't get me wrong guys, It's the same here in the land of Oz.
That's why i simply turned my back on society.
i grow crops and stock to feed my family, we pay no rent as we own 100 acres of land that has been in our family for generations, hell, we want for nothing. the only monetary expense we have is an internet connection
that is paid for by selling our surplus vegies. we have everything that you do, including the fun stuff like beer, wine, tobacco and herb. all grown/brewed by us. even the wife makes a great cheese.
Point is, even though we have MINIMUM contact with society, our freedom is still only measured by the work we put into it.

Yeah that's true. something very wrong when most of the country can stash a mini-gun under their bed. these are the people i want to be well away from.

The reality of the matter! There is some force in the Middle East toppling the governments
and bestowing a radical presence of Islam. It all started in Iraq after the U.S. invasion 2003
then Egypt,Libya,Syria, and Now Turkey. After they topple a Muslim Brotherhood style regime
is established. Isn't funny how the U.S. will invade one country because alqada terrorist (Iraq)
across the border in another country they arm the terrorist (FREEDOM FIGHTERS) to conquer
that government. It's only obvious alqada was in Libya (BENGAZI). The Christian populations
in those countries are being put trough genocide and never once does the main stream media report
the truth.

Common since view- Does a nation at war fight the enemy in one country then arm that same
enemy in the next country? Does borders define a war on terror? You see the word terrorist
applies to us all! We switched to helping out the enemy and arm them over there,
that's the reason they want to close Guantanamo. The real focus on terror is kind of ludicrous
It's not securing our national borders but stripping Americans of real national security constitutional
rights for without the rule of law and strict adherence to constitution there is nothing worth a dam
to secure. It seems as time went on after 911 and the past 12 years the focus of the war on terror
has the hair sights pointed right at us. Starting with Patriot act. all the way to N.D.A.A. and now
drones over American skies. Fema camps the new Guantanamo's. Fema billions of amo armored
personnel carriers and assult rifles. N.S.A. scandal. I.R.S. scandal. These people sit and act
in treasonous ways are caught and everyone looks the other way but as soon as a legislative
bill pops up at the table unconstitutional they don't even read it and pass it. The lawlessness
speaks for it's self corruption reaches all the way to the supreme court. People will wake up
but it will be because a tank is smashing their house at 4:00 in the morning telling them
to get in the patty wagon you will be killed or reeducated to be a slave of the state.

The largest standing armies in the world could not defeat us but trough one little word
we are trust down TERROR But the biggest dagger is done by the ones who swear to
protect and defend the constitution not foreign but domestic enemies

I agree things may not be as good as they used to be but I'd bet things are a darn site better than the lifestyle that's had in other countries.

So why hasn't anyone 'stood up'? They would if they had the need to, it's human nature.

Sorry to break it to you, your country is the most debt ridden in the world and your
lifestyles are becoming more like those countries you speak of every day.

Libya was quite a good place to live once upon a time, the people received money
from the oil sales profits and the government there helped people out
in ways America could only dream of:

http://www.guardian.co.tt/letters/2011/ ... ous-leader

I am left astonished as to why there was an uprising in Libya and the killing of Muammar Gaddafi. I can’t help feeling that there was some sinister plot to get his regime out of the way so that the corrupt businessmen and foreign governments could get control of the country’s funds and oil resources. From the information I have obtained, Gaddafi could be classified as the world’s most generous leader. Before Gaddafi came to power in 1969, only 25 per cent of Libyans were literate; today the figure is 83 per cent. There were many aspects of generosity awarded to his people. If a Libyan was unable to get employment after graduation, the State would pay the average salary of the profession, as if he or she was employed, until employment was found.

Banks are state-owned and loans were given at zero interest. Those who wanted a farming career were given land, house, and livestock for free. Newly weds were given around £35,000 to buy their first apartment and on the birth of a child, mothers got around £3,600. A portion of Libyan oil sales were credited directly to citizens’ bank accounts. The Government also subsided 50 per cent of the price of a car and petrol was less than 11 cents a litre, as was 40 loaves bread. With all this generosity, why would the people want to topple such a generous leader?

LOL, check this out, oil companies are offended that people in Venezuela pay so little for petrol
and don't create oil tycoons to buy our politicians with:

Thanks to generous subsidies, the Venezuelan people pay an absurdly low price for gas. Just how low? 4 cents. http://cnnmon.ie/16c3D9g

Heaven forbid we should pay so little for petrol from our own resources, CRIKEY.
