German Court Backs Catholic Decree

Germany’s chief administrative court in Leipzig backed a decree made at the German Bishops’ Conference that stated that “Catholics who stop paying a church membership tax cannot receive sacraments,” reported the Nation Catholic Reporter. Under the new decree, those who don’t pay the 8 percent church tax would lose the right for a religious burial or to receive communion. However, the decree stopped short of stating that those who didn’t pay would be excommunicated.

“From here on out, German Catholics either have to be full-fledged taxpaying members or they have to leave the church entirely, giving up all rights to the Catholic sacraments,” we wrote Tuesday. “This decision is significant in that it shows that the Catholic Church is asserting itself in Germany in a way it has not asserted itself in many years.”

Despite the controversy and resistance that was brought on by the decree, the court announced that “in Germany it was ‘not possible’ to stop paying church tax and remain a member of the Catholic Church.” The court stressed that it had an obligation to tax church members, but it was the church that decided what to do with those who would not pay.

Catholic officials have become increasingly concerned with the number of people who skip out on the tax but continue to call themselves Catholic. “There must be consequences for people who distance themselves from the church by a public act,” said Archbishop Robert Zollitsch of Freiburg, the conference president. “We are grateful Rome has given completely clear approval to our stance.” The Catholic Church has seen a decreased number of followers in the past few years, many of whom no longer wish to pay the required tax. With this ultimatum, however, the church has made a clear delineation between members and non-members. “One cannot be half a member or only partly a member. Either one belongs and commits, or one renounces this,” Zollitsch said.

Continue to watch for ties between Rome and Berlin to strengthen as the Catholic Church becomes increasingly “committed to seeking out every lost person,” as Zollitsch said. To understand where this integration is leading, read “The Old Rome-Berlin Axis Is Back.”

Does the Trumpet have a preoccupation with Germany? Seems so many of these stories regard Germany in one way or another.

Soon you will be paying for the air you breath, believe me... carbon tax etc..

One can only guess that at some point we will not be getting paid for the work we do, the government will simply provide for us and we will simply need to fulfill our labour obligations or will receive nothing, no food, no power, no anything...

What comes next? when you take everyting away from everyone, what happens next?

good points...but i dont think the solution has to be dreadful...the bottom line i think is that very soon globally we will find out how phoney the money system is, how corrupted its become and how the globe is illegally been duped and indebted to a mafia cartel...instead of the world collapsing perhaps sensibility will ensue the honorable(as i am sure there are a few) and a spade will be called a spade...the lie unleashed and the globe will be set free of its hudreds of trillions of dollars of unpayable debt...at that point we can start being optimistic and forward thinking...right now with the global debt as it is...the bulk of the tax dollar go to servicing careless debt ratios that the banksters sanctioned...goldman sachs wrote the lending rules for greece and spain...and allowed them to go 40 to 1....hmmm who was the responsible business man here? i say the sachters....

yes i like when people make unsubstantiated generalizations..that really show lack of depth and understanding of the real corruption that obviously lies unchecked....it sickens me that church has weaseld its way into forcing people to disclose their religious beliefs and open their pocket books or you cant come to church...how telling of the godlyness of the vatican...which no doubt is opening the eyes of a few good catholics that have to question how easily they become uninvited..

well well....He can't.

They are damn good forecasters...but what if they don't need to forecast these events? :rtft:

Time for the Germany-RCC superpower to rise up and take it's place in the world. :yell:

I feel bad for germans, so easily led into shitty situations throughout the years.
