My sentiments exactly. As well, I'd happily pay taxes for a more secure social security/pension system as opposed to million dollar missiles that blow up a few beduins in the desert on the other side of the world.
If we relied on our own energy supplies, kept our nose out of foreign affairs and stopped allowing corporations to control our government; there's be plenty of tax dollars available for the people that pay into the system in their time of economic need - and much much more left over.
Canada is a good example. Switzerland an even better one. They may not have ideal situations but in foreign affairs they trump the U.S.
France is overboard. Not only are they being overrun by immigrants, they mandate too few work hours and too high taxes - they are the other extreme.
There is a solution - unfortunately, share holder profits can not be the deciding factor, and I don't see that ever changing.
