R these Tea Parties just the beginning of something bigger?
LowSix wrote:As a gesture of respect to those who felt that the Tea Parties were simply a symptom of the butt-hurt Far right organizers, with little or no due diligence as to WHY there should be protests..I will admit, no, im FORCED to admit that, well damnit, they were right.
I will grant this retraction.
and a sincere one at that..
and Im not even being sarcastic.
Not a bit.
I can only speak to the reasons I would have protested, had I done so.
So, i spoke out of line and out of turn speaking to and defending THEIR reasons...
I defended their motives visciously, and while MY premise about why I would have protested was and still is correct..the majority of those participating had not a CLUE what they were doing, nor were they educated enough to defend those beliefs and this blogger that shot this video OWNED them..and me to an extent by proxy of my defence....
An educated and pricipled viewpoint is not what was driving most of these people..so I owe an apology for my misguided enthusiasm...
A LOT of these protests were filled with people who had no clue why they were there, more than a little Tin Foil hat paranoia, and no clue about what it was they were supposed to be protesting, and my summation of the Protesters Motivations were completely off the mark. Straight Trend Bandwagon Hopping in the throes of (well intentioned) but misguided ignorance..
I have been watching videos over the last day, and i must admit 90% of it was hollow band-wagoneering. By not just a few absolutely clueless lunatics.
I myself would have bitchslapped this blogger with my flawless logic and razor sharp reasoning if he had asked why I was there, but alas the nutjobs spoke for me...
he still made his point quite effectively, and I must applaud that.
I'm pretty sure that there was some editing of that vid... the thing about having an agenda in this world is that technology can really make it happen for ya.
It is really unfortunate that the general level of education in North America(and the world) has declined so much. There is a lot of media distraction and disinfo of all sorts.
Considering that the spirit of these protests, and their origins, came from the campaign to elect Sen. Ron Paul into office last year, I believe that your idealistic evaluation of 'what the tea parties should have been' is still spot on.
It is to our advantage that we have people like yourself that can cut through all of the weak attempts at explaining such a complex set of problems the American people are faced with.
The inability of most of the protesters to articulate their real concerns in an educated manner does not mean that they are not hurt, and fearful of consequences of the current administration and its policies.
These protests definately exploited the real need for more educated and motivated leadership within the resistance to tyranny movement.(ie.. more Ron Pauls)
Some positive will come from this.
