You might like:
"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."
...that's about where we're at..................and the dr. paul is the only candidate who is "old enough" to recognize the situation for what it really is...

With time comes distance of lessons learned. I hate with deep passion the famous "Those that fail to learn from the past are condemned to repeat it." quote. Why the hell does mankind always think we are so evolved that we are so enlightened that what happened "then" is irrelavant now? There are just some things that always remain constant regardless of time or technology. I fear...and I mean this with every ounce of my being, that WE will be no different than our ancestors before us...and that means we have not progressed (and I despise the liberal definition of this term) to a real point of true enlightenment. We risk dying in the annals of history as no better than those before us thus rendering our lives, our time on earth no more relevant than those before us. I REFUSE to die being less relevant, and so should you. We have to take off our rose colored glasses, strip away our uneducated egos and LIVE up to those that paved our way to another level of existence. The time is now, together we can accomplish ANYTHING. Do not let the sacrifices of those good men and women before us be in vein. I am ready to give my life so that we remain free of tyranny, bondage is not an option for me or my family. I will not succum, I will not lie down, I will not be enslaved.

Although the quote you hate is absolute truth.
This is also the case in the context of this thread Im affraid.
The ever present, unwavering and irrational 'hope for change'.
It doesnt matter which 'phone' you choose to use if 'the switchboard' is 'corrupt'.
