My problem with the "religion" of Islam.. none. People can choose whatever religion they want.

The SYSTEM of Islam, is what I have an issue with. It is a SYSTEM that vilifies dissent against ruling leaders, whether they are righteous or not... while maintaining the "responsibility" to spread that system over the earth...

The problem with this, is that Islam makes its own followers impotent against corruption... And what we see today, is radical nut-jobs rising to power for various reasons... while the average Muslim does nothing. It is not just about East vs. West; 99% of Muslims in Mali can't defend against less than 1% of the extremists that are destroying their national heritage. The 60-70-80-90% of moderates in countries like Nigeria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tunisia, Egypt.. are all being RUN OVER by fundamentalists. These people are powerless. I don't have a problem with them, but at the same time, I can identify the problem with their "system" and how it will potentially affect ME.

Because the Moderates are impotent, they are also irrelevant... they hold no power, and therefore, their actions and decisions do not affect me. HOWEVER, when the 1% of fundamentalists start prancing around like warlords, acting like legitimate governments, and try to impose their value system on people who are not like them, then I must use THEM as the touchstone of what the "threats" could be. I really don't care about the thoughts and beliefs of the average, moderate Muslim; when he is coerced into fighting or working for the fundamentalists (his time, efforts, money, talents, and other things that the "state"/fundamentalists demand from him), then what he believes is irrelevant- just like in the grand scheme of things, MY thoughts or the thoughts of the Muslim-sympathizer or the thoughts of a humanitarian- don't mean ANYTHING in the bigger picture when it's my tax dollars and my kids who may be drafted by MY leaders either defensively or offensively against the fundamentalists. ONLY THE ATTITUDES OF THE LEADERS IS WHAT MATTERS, therefore, when I consider Islam, I must consider the beliefs and actions of fundamentalists at the loss of the more sane masses. We plebs are nothing!

I do disagree though, that the extremists are actors.
(now in riot situations..perhaps..yeah...)

But not in these legal cases, and cultural cases..
What you see is what is really there.

The moderates though, have completely lost the momentum.
And like Sock says, are in danger of becoming irrelevant.

I know people like you would NEVER make rulings like this..
Nor would a single muslim i know..

So i reiterate, that when i speak up on this stupid fucking subject...
I am 100% restricting my criticism to the radical interpretations..
which despite Phaetons and Opals insistence to the contrary..
are gaining hold, and grabbing power all OVER the world..

And in many cases the west doesnt have a FUCKING thing to do with it..

And the moderate voice is being crushed and or punished for dialogue seeking moderation.
