(I dont recall which poster pointed this out I apologize but it has amuzed me ever since.)

Some of the bible was based on Egyptian mythology (and some of it was based on Babylonian), they were really into the whole water being more important than anything as they lived in a fucking desert and they had one of the biggest water bodies close to them... The Nile River.

Here is their creation story:

Only the ocean existed at first. Then Ra (the sun) came out of an egg that appeared on the surface of the water. Ra brought forth four children, the gods Shu and Geb and the goddesses Tefnut and Nut. Shu and Tefnut became the atmosphere. They stood on Geb, who became the earth, and raised up Nut, who became the sky. Ra ruled over all. Geb and Nut later had two sons, Set and Osiris, and two daughters, Isis and Nephthys. Osiris succeeded Ra as king of the earth, helped by Isis, his sister-wife. Set, however, hated his brother and killed him. Isis then embalmed her husband's body with the help of the god Anubis, who thus became the god of embalming. The powerful charms of Isis resurrected Osiris, who became king of the netherworld, the land of the dead. Horus, who was the son of Osiris and Isis, later defeated Set in a great battle and became king of the earth.

As you can see in their story water was first.. then the sun, the biggest being of ligth was born from it, the people who wrote the bible based their mythology on this tale except that they took out all reference to the Egyptian gods.

this Daimonion went on to become the demon in english. I cant even find an english wiki article about daimonion...

Unbelievable!!! You folks have got to be the most hilariously gullible easily swayed bunch of poor individuals. Now go back through and read your responses. Each one of you almost to a man/woman drank that article up and accepted it as truth without so much as a source. As long as it contains Bible bashing here, here we agree.

#1, I guess technically taken by itself, Genesis 3 only says serpent. But the Bible has tho be taken as a whole. So that only those with a true desire for truth may find it, God places the keys to passages throughout both Testaments which shed light on other passages.

#2, The serpent never tempted Eve to eat of the Tree of Life as your glorious article states. He/it tempted her to eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of good and evil--smart people.

#3, As I said in number one, it says serpent not Satan--true. But who is this serpent in God's garden? Read Ezekiel 28, It begins by talking of the 'ruler' of Tyre, and ends by describing the "King" of Tyre. Who does this sound like.

“‘You were the seal of perfection,
full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13 You were in Eden,
the garden of God;
every precious stone adorned you:
carnelian, chrysolite and emerald,
topaz, onyx and jasper,
lapis lazuli, turquoise and beryl.

No wonder most of you haven't a clue what is going on in the world! If a single faulty, badly written article is gobbled up as truth, it is no wonder you all accept every other lie. And believe it or not the Bible describes this generation and their 'itching ears'. So ready to believe all but the truth, and the strong delusion hasn't even begun to grip humanity. Only a love for Christ and His Truth will save you from what is coming. It is a free gift.

I could pick this article apart all day and I am not even a theologian or a pastor. Just a dude who just started to read the Bible.

Adam is the one who bears the consequences, because he was commanded by God to not eat from the tree. He was responsible for protecting his wife, and he failed. In Genesis 2, before God creates Eve, he says to Adam: "You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eatof it youshall surely die." (v. 16-17)

The work of the serpent is thus the enactment of everything that Jesus ascribed to ‘the devil ’ in John 8:44. Furthermore, there is no other event in recorded history that better fulfils this description of the devil than does the account of the temptation by the serpent in Genesis 3.

A further tie-up between the serpent of Genesis 3 and Satan, or the devil, is given in Revelation 12:9 and 20:2:

‘And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world’

The word ‘Satan" means ‘adversary’—primarily to God, secondarily to men; the term ‘devil’ signifies ‘slanderer’ of God to men, and of men to God.’

Excellent post ghost32. I do not know if you are a believer, but you seem to have a far better grasp of this OP then anyone else. I didn't even think of the Revelation passage in my first rebuke to this nonsense.

Anything AD and above, is viable, as their is only one rule to live by (Love One Another) , does not mean "smoochy ' smoochy" and hugging while holding hands singing "Kumbaya" everyday.. it simply means to "respect" one another, and help each other, as you would your own bloodline, to be willing to sacrifice a small measure of your comfort zone, for those who are still learning to follow the rule itself..

The bible has been fought over, blood fills it's entire volumes, the putrid stink of decay fills it's passages, not because of the words, the common sense, and the value of what it holds to "be", but because of "humanity", and humanities failings, shortcomings, and inability to follow "one simple rule", tainting it's volumes, it's meanings, and it's design..

True, humanity as a whole has been unable to follow the simplest of it's direction.

It's really a sad state, when one does theological-archaeological research, what you uncover, can turn many a sane one, truly insane with realization, of just how far we have "sunk" to defend what is only words on paper, rather then take the best it has to offer, and use that to follow the one and only rule we have to deal with..
