What do you mean by changing the way you act with your surroundings? Give me some ideas man...
i think what cornbread mentioned is a good start :
"Get real. If you care about changing the world, start with yourself and quit being a consumer. Get off the grid. "
further then that, it might sound a bit naive, but what i meant is stop relaying on greed motivated selfish ambitions , look around ,help those that need help in your close environment , where you have the most power to effect things ,realize we are all equal and connected , don't do to anyone things that you don't want anyone to do to you . you know all that spiritual things that you probably heard many times .

true .
I've been being nice and helping when I can for a fair bit now, these days though if you don't have a bit of 'greed motivated selfish ambitions' you end up a bum lol, sad but true, nothing against bums. So number 1 check
don't do to anyone things that you don't want anyone to do to you. Number 2 check
I totally agree but that stuff should just go without saying i.m.o.
I wanna change sh*t fo real, just watching British gas on the news, their inviting people to see how the company is run, when all the people really want is cheaper energy, we might give a damn how its run if they stop ripping us off

Yeh everyone should aim for self sustainability but its hard when you have to scrape and claw your way through life, if you actually get a high paying job most people would let that consume them and self sustainability wouldn't be in the fore front of their mind, its a vicious circle..
Little money = no real hope for self sustainability for most people
More money = Not caring about self sustainability as long as your living ok
had to bring Hillary into this

at least you will be the coolest bum around but seriously some of the more happiest moments of my life occurred when i was living off grid . now that im back in civilization i really miss this days. its really much more easier then you think , i would even say natural .

if that was the case the world would have been much better place .

let me give you a cryptic pseudo mystical answer for that : all things got there time and place , you need to have patient ...
Yeh I'm trying to be/am fairly patient even though it may not seem that way, I do believe patience is truly a virtue, I will live off the grid one day, I'm only young so I may still be a bit naive .
I want a better world for my/all our children more than myself.
I've said for a long time that I don't wanna bring a child into this world at the moment, I think I would rather adopt, at least then I'm caring for a child that needs it..etc..
Marduk's quote is quite good...''Homo homini lupus'' - A man is a wolf to man..
Anyway now ordering my V mask and marching myself....
That would be messed up
Yeh Rizze we need more people like that in power around the globe

I'd say for you younger DTVer's who want to do something (other than bitch and speculate online), go join a cause. I don't care what cause: Nuke the Snails, Mandatory Sterilization for Christians, whatever...
Anything that is not internet-based. Get out there, look people in the eye, knock on doors, get arrested and beat up by cops, breathe some fresh air. Find out what activism really feels like
I did it. OK, know I'm just a fat old guy now, but I did my time in the trenches, so to speak.
I have a good friend (ex-roommate and co-collaborator), John Sinclair, who was a serious 60's radical, he did his time, check it out, now he just writes poems and reads cop novels.
But he did something when he was young. Don't waste your youth in front of a computer screen, go out and live and fight like I did, and Sinclair did.
Find out how it feels. If you're smart enough and tough enough, you might make a difference (or at least become a footnote in history...)

Would not any new leaders be the same old shite?
Who would be better, than the ones in power now?
Those that advise and give government leaders the script, are all the same guys, that's being doing it for years with each new government, no matter who they are.
Hard to go forwards imo......... sheep keep following the same oldcrap.
One government puts a policy in place that is not liked.......... they get voted out, next government puts a similar policy in............ and so on, and so on. Until all the right/wrong policies are in place by succesful new governments. Blatently obvoius that we get the run around, each and every term of office.

Here's me hanging with the old revolutionary (ok, I was high):
"Except for the police, we had a ball." - John Sinclair
See, I come from the generation where liberal wasn't such a bad word. We were on the good side.
Something seems to have changed...
Had to have a quick shower...
Activism is all good but I think I wanna go another route, I agree most of us should probably get off the computer a bit more...
I plan to get a load of cash(I'm sure a lot of us have the same plan..) Instead of activism per se I would prefer travelling the UK (at first) finding land that could be reclaimed and using my money to turn it into usable land, people are already doing this but it needs to be sped up some serious..
Plant crops, fruit trees, 'normal' trees, reclaim old lakes etc..
That's the kind of stuff I would do and plan to do, every day I read and read and practice and practice, I shouldn't need to say what I practice lol
Most people get a load of cash and spunk it on BS, I admit when I was younger I planned to do pretty much the same, but now my world view has changed I'm determined to at least try my very best to achieve my goals and make some kind of a difference no matter how insignificant.
I'm guessing your the one on the left Corn...I always imagined u'de look like that except without the beard.
Will watch that Liveleak link in a bit man.

Yeh frustrating isn't it man, governments need to be whittled down gradually then they need to be filled with righteous people.
righteous... 1. characterized by uprightness or morality: a righteous observance of the law. 2. morally right or justifiable: righteous indignation. 3. acting in an upright, moral way; virtuous: a righteous and godly person. 4. Slang. absolutely genuine or wonderful: some righteous playing by a jazz great. –noun 5. the righteous, (used with a plural verb) righteous persons collectively. Synonyms: 3. good, honest, fair, right.

Don't the the righteous, have that narcissistic, personality disorder? lol "I do, and I am" "Joke"
Many people in the local community's are much better to run a town, a City or even a country. As long as they are not got at by the advisor's (speech writers) They must use words of their own, and not be subjective to outside influences, other than that of what goes on in ones own mind.
