Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water.... Cape Cod holiday-makers told to beware as 16ft great white shark is spotted off coast

The first great white shark of the Cape Cod summer season has been photographed just 50 yards from the coast off Chatham.

The 16-foot shark, estimated to weigh more than 2,000 pounds, was seen hunting seals near the shore by the Cape Cod Shark Hunters.

'I spotted a couple yesterday,' said pilot George Breen. 'One was about a quarter mile offshore and the bigger of the two was about 50 yards off

They've found sharks all the way up here in Illinois.

Up the Mississippi river.

.

..i guess it's a little early in the season for them..

...''not'' unusual.......but not ''common''....there aren't as many sightings as on other coastlines , to my knowledge...lots of vegitation and such floats by the cape , so my understanding is that a lot of sharks don't ''generally'' feed there , though there is a seal population ...humpbacks and other whales do feed there , though...i've seen them off chatham....baby whales are easy targets for big sharks

...but a 1 ton great white..?...yikes... :ohno:
