Bit of a strange one I know but has anyone else noticed the strange EPG background music that Sky have.

Year before last I found that whenever the background music was playing while on the menu option, I would start to feel quite anxious for no reason. It was at the time when they had the christmas styled tune playing. I realised that it was the constant break in the music & the repeatative notes that made me feel very anxious. So needless to say I would turn it off whenever it happened as I was very aware of the emotions it seemed to stir up in me.

Anyway ... we have have Sky HD downstairs but in the bedroom we have Sky +. Over the last couple of nights I have noticed the EPG music again on the Sky + box as it's creating this anxiety feeling within me once again, When I focus on the actual music it seems to make no sense what so ever. I admit I know absolutely nothing about music other than do I like it ??? don't I like it ?? and for some reason I definitely don't like this. Music has never had such a strong effect on me like these do.

The music constantly breaks in mid note, there seems no harmony within the mix of the notes & the more I listen to it the more it sounds like a record being played backwards. I have pondered over the purpose of why Sky would choose such a strange tune as a questioner & thinker but that was where it was left. UNTIL today I had to call the HMRC line relating to my National Insurance contributions. Can you imagine my surprise to find that while I was on hold for 27 minutes, there EPG music started to create the same anxiety feelings in me & felt very familiar. As I started to take notice of the actual music playing seems to be the exact EPG that Sky have.

When considering it all from a conspiracy view point, ie "subliminal messaging in music" I did a search on google & was surprised to find that there are hundreds of searches done on this topic. But what I found very strange was that Sky's response was as follows

Hi BarbaraP,

As this is your first post I would like to welcome you to the community

The music on the Sky menus has been specially composed and published by one of our internal companies. This may be the reason why you don't recognise some of the pieces.

Thanks

Hi Sky+Menu+Music,

I have received further correspondence regarding this and unfortunately, the music on the EPG is made especially for us and is unavailable to the public.

I am sorry that this may not be the answer you were looking for

Thanks,

Hi Summerof76 and manygard,

I have had some feedback about the background music that is on the menus. Unfortunately the tracks are specially composed for Sky and are not commercially available.

Thanks,

So with this knowledge, Sky are very adamant that this music has been composed especially for them & them only, I wonder why is the tax man (HMRC) playing the same strange eerie music .

So anyone got any idea's on this subject??
Does anyone have any tools to check this out ??? Is there more to this ???

Russell, thanks for your response on this & many apologies for not replying previousily. I have only just found your message..

No sadly I didn't have the facility for shazamming (didn't know what it was til I just googled it) as I don't have an iphone.

Unfortunately the tune has now changed on my sky plus box but I will check if HMRC are still playing it on their phone line & if so will get my son when he visits me next to shazam it for me ....

Many thanks for the suggestion :flop:

Thanks for the
