Dont know if my friends across the world have seen it but the current SKY tv advert for HD tv done to the tune of Willie Wonka is mesmorizing, every time i hear and see it all i want to do is lay back and watch SKY. The tune IS hypnotic, is this just a cunning ply by a marketing bigwigs or is there something more sinister afoot....?

The film itself has had many stories connecting it to more dark themes and i dont know why but it does have disturbing undertones, maybe someone on here can enlighten me? I just find it strange that one tune can have such a prfound affect on ones senses, is it a childhood memory? I dont know but i DO know something is not right with this advert...... can anybody else relate or give an explanation?

Being in the US, I don't know what tune you're talking about. But you are right in your assumption that marketing guys have a lot to do with it, especially in a big corporation like Sky. There are notes that strike certain patterns in your mind, and those are the guys paid to know that. They'll squeeze every penny out of their advertisements.

I know the ad. That song is haunting and I've said to my wife a few times that it creeps me out when out of context like that. My son is almost four and won't watch the ad at all.. And he knows all the words after only seein the actual movie once. The song is definately more sinister than it seems. Creepy too... :nails:

Now rush out, like the advertiser wants you to. and buy your HD T.V. pronto.
If you can be persuaded to do that, from an advert

My TV is just a part of the furniture now.... I have grown to despise the crap that they put out.
I can't bear to watch it any more.
I think I grew up, and out of the illusion, that sold me the constant lies.

You are most welcome for the avatar edit. :flop:

Yikes. That's a creepy advert alright. It's definitely got the grubby fingers of marketing and psychological advertising all over it.

The advert is creepy but whenever I hear it I can't stop singing the first couple of lines of it for a couple of hours. It annoys me alot, yet what annoys me more is when they advertise and compare what a HD picture looks like on a normal TV. If they can show me a perfect picture on a normal TV to show me what I am missing because I do not have HD then why can't they just show that picture all the time without me having to go out and spend thousands on new equipment.

Here`s a post made by a good friend just recently on a poker forum.

Anyone else got any info on this? Very strange indeed.

Quote:
So im watching the comedy channel, and inbetween adverts a meassage popped up. It was so fast i couldnt read what it said. So i rewind the TV, pause it on this message and its a message about not joining gyms, how they are a scam and a fake dream. You should just eat right ect its all free.

Anyone ever heard of that? or seen it? Its really weird.

And im not the only one in the room, so its not my imagination.!
