Hikikomori is a Japanese term used for reclusive adolescents or adults that withdraw from the outside world. They are the hermits and recluses that reject what the governments have offered them. It is known to be a sociological phenomenon that has swept Japan.

It can start out by refusing to go to school due to being bullied. The Ministry of Health in Japan estimate that there are 3,600,000 hikikomori that live in Japan, about one third of whom are aged 30 or older. In 2010, 700,00 individuals were living as hikikomori with an average age of 31. Some are in their 40's and have spent 20 years in what is termed as 'isolation'. And it is written that this group is referred to the 'first generation hikikomori', there is concern about their reintegration to society known as "2030' problem, at that time they will be in their 60's and their parents will begin to die off. How will they deal with society and what will be important for their survival?

In addition, the Japanese government estimates that 1.55 million people are on the verge of becoming hikikomori, some have gone so far to state that it is 1% of the total population. People that simply feel overwhelmed by the world as it stands; due to it taking them away from their natural state of being, free to be who they were born to be.

There have been various theories put forward about the cause and it includes autism. However, its more like a world that people do not choose to live in anymore. Hence why they reject what 21st century industrialized society is offering them. In Michael Zielenziger's book 'Shutting out the Sun: How Japan Created its Own Lost Generation', he wrote that it is closely related to PTSD. Those he interviewed were 'independent thinkers', and a had a 'sense of self' that the current Japanese environment could not accommodate.

As we know a recluse has a philosophy that rejects consumer society and its earthly world. It can be due to a mystical or religious experience or outlook that involves asceticism, becoming a hermit or an anchorite. They do not have a desire to succeed in a material and earthly world. It is the great 'renunciation initiation', when the people reject the world. This initiation can be found in Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity and Judaism. The Sufi mystics also understood it.

Many monks, nuns and mystics lived a reclusive life. There was a monk, Symeon of Trier, and after he became a recluse due to his love of God, a great flood ravaged the city and country round about. He died on the 1st of June, 1035.

As I have said previously we had this opportunity a 1,000 years ago. No surprise then that there was also a Pope Benedict IX sitting in Rome at that time. [2]

This is a spiritual happening, and it is happening globally. My view is that this is going on all over the world. Although they are not shutting off the sun within, and have found their freedom within it. In Japan the sun is feminine. So these people are aligned with their feminine energies.

Within themselves, and their own environment they have found peace for the soul, and do not wish to enter into, or go anywhere that will that will take that resplendent peace and solace from them. These people are simply not willing to deal with the pressures of the outside world, as such they withdraw from it. The sheer amount of pressure put on the children in Japan has been a major issue for decades. In 1998/1999, Japan had the highest rate of youth suicide and depression in the world. Pressure that related to education, and pressure to be successful in every way.

It is written that low income families do not have hikikomori children, because their parents cannot afford to support them and they're forced to work against their will. However, in England there are children that have grown up in families that have never been to work, and there are no jobs for 2 million youngsters.

There is another term, 'Hodo-Hodo zoku', and it means the 'so-so tribe', it applies to people that refuse promotion due to not wishing to have the extra responsibility, and pressure that the promotion would put upon them. They wish to minimize stress levels and maximize free time. Those that wish to minimize stress levels, are also doing it to benefit their own health and well-being. The medical profession are fully aware that 85% of disease is co-created by stress.

Extensive education, and the pressure of it, is viewed as pointless due to their being no jobs at the end of the educational 'sausage machine'. Basically, these children have rejected the sausage machine, they refuse to become pork, packaged, to be fried and eaten alive by the consumer society, its governments and corporations. They refuse to be machines and live like robots in unconscious awareness, that is driven by what is unnatural to the consciousness of the soul.

My view is that technology has added to the growth of Hikikomori because now people can communicate with people all over the world without leaving their homes. Would these people leave their houses if the world was more welcoming to true spiritual values? If the world was balanced and aligned with the natural feminine forces of creation?

The Hikikomori have chosen to opt out big time, and no force by the government or its people will change that. This is the Age of Aquarius, the age of the non-conformist, so how will society adapt to different groups and generations that simply refuse to conform to that which they know is detrimental
for their being.

What impact will this global opt out have on the future of humanity? Are they the meek that shall inherit the earth, when those in the earthly world have finished fighting over it and destroying it?

The Hikikimori have found their kingdom of heaven, and nobody has the right to take it from them. It is humanity that must change, not those that reject humanity and its ways that are detrimental to the eco-system, and the indigenous peoples of the world.

The Japanese were a deeply spiritual people until the US corporations arrived, built its rail roads and dropped a bomb upon it.

Don't know if you understand that Crouching tiger hidden dragon, and the subsequent soundtrack are of Chinese make and origin. Not Japanese.

Just saying does not fit the motif you are trying to convey with the copy and paste bit you have going here.

The post is not about 'motifs', its about a spiritual happening, that has more to do with spiritual values and states of being. What I have conveyed is very different to what others are conveying. Why is that? The health professionals in Japan are ignoring spiritual reality, because those same health professionals went through the sausage machine.

I chose the video from crouching tiger, hidden dragon, because the girl looks like my Japanese sister-in-law, and the music track is delightful. In addition, the post that I have written is about a global happening, although it cites a few facts from Japan. DTV ask for facts, as such I gave you some facts that were available.

Also added is the music track from the 'Last Samurai', with an image of a couple.

I can assure you that there was no cut and paste, every word was typed by these fingers.

Glad you found the post of interest. Have you written any good thought provoking posts lately?

Quite a few, Thanks for asking.

I would disagree with you, in your linking of certain actions to a "Spiritual" lacking.
Quite the opposite, as is the mentality of what death is to the Japanese people.
Suicide is not a taboo issue to them, nor has it ever been, and they likely have held the highest rates of suicide since before the feudal era. You should look into Japanese history more.. Maybe you would start to understand the difference between japanese and chinese.. maybe..

They are quite spiritual people, and have been, continue to be. Maybe not the spiritual you prescribe to, But what you prescribe to does not amount for much beyond your own personal delusions.
Shinto is a wonderfully spiritual doctrine, Japanese Buddhism, not to mention many other faiths that are practiced there. Bahá'í Faith, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, Ryukyuan religion, and more.

They just don't make it a point to make it other peoples business.. Like many others do. :look:

As to being reclusive, That is a habit of human nature. Cultivated in some ways, but not completely unusual.

So, you typed all that huh?
As I have said previously we had this opportunity a 1,000 years ago. No surprise then that there was also a Pope Benedict IX sitting in Rome at that time. [2]

So you routinely add "[2]" and other numbers in brackets like Wikipedia does eh?

constabul, website keeps on logging me out. This is the third time I have tried to reply to you. However, I am not going to reply again in depth again, although know this I was into Japan from the mid 90's. On the rest we will simply have to agree to disagree.
