The solar flux reached 76.9 Saturday. This is the highest flux reading of Cycle 24 thus far. When will the solar flux crack 80? 100? Time will tell.

Solar Flux is Currently at 80 and climbing what does this all mean? We are currently at the highest point in this solar cycle 24. Should this Flux rate go any higher we will start see more and more class c type flares. :ohno:

Sunspot 1029

Coronal mass ejection's could be heading our way if this flux reading continue's to climb our earth could begin to see large arora's and our Heliosphear could be adversly effected.
We have been in the sight's of several Sunspot's that erupted late last week and have been the main reason for the elevated flux reading's. However if these reading continue we will start to see and feel the effect's soon

Look at the net link:

It has a permanent access to SOHO telescope and updates..

This is what I was telling you guy's about last week

THE SUN'S SNEAKY VARIABILITY: It might not be obvious to the naked eye, but the sun is a variable star. A sensor slated for launch onboard the Solar Dynamics Observatory will probe the sun's "sneaky variability" with better time and spectral resolution than ever before. Get the full story from Science@NASA.

BIG SUNSPOT: After five days of non-stop growth (movie), sunspot 1029 has become the biggest active region of the year and a beautiful target for backyard solar telescopes. Amateur astronomer Lecoq Etienne sends this picture from Mesnil-Panneville, France:
Image
The sunspot's large dark core is about the size of Earth, while the entire sunspot group stretches about 50,000 km from end to end. The behemoth has been crackling with magnetic activity, producing 10 C-class solar flares in the past few days. That more than triples the number of C-flares (3) previously detected in all of 2009. According to NOAA forecasters, there is a 5% chance of an even stronger M-class flare during the next 24 hours. Stay tuned for solar activity!
