I have to say this, we have to be cautious.

Michio Kaku used to be my hero, but it seems he has been pushing for this restructuring of the power grids for a long time.

while it is a good idea to start and restructure the grid, that also means that what we send out into space and what we start building now should be safe from a solar flare, or at least built to the best of the ability so we can safe guard from a solar attack.

part of me thinks this is a scare tactic to promote a new legislation to upgrade our grids which will send us into even more debt ( and it will be us citizens that pay for it)

but at the same time this really could happen, so it is something we should take seriously at the same time.

this is why I question his motives and his intelligence ( or maybe hejust doesn't study it that much):

Yes I think thats exactly what it is. Anything that's posted online or in the media no matter what source about predictions like probably won't happen.

Secondly we have been given a 100 year warning that this could happen, so the way i see it how could we be vunerable when we know something like this could happen. Solar activity was up during the year 2000, and not that much happened at all so I don't see the big deal.
