How many of you feel like modern day sports are just what the Colosseum was for the Romans? A way to keep the mindless slaves from thinking too much... and instead remained "entertained", we know that the WWE is blatantly satanic, but what about things like ...gee idk... American Football, do you guys think sports are valid or they all all rigged behind the scenes? Discuss.
evidence of what, otoel? that you're fucking certifiably insane? you watch a children's show, and analyze it,for hours then in your spare time, you give distorted scripture studies for a bunch of losers on the interweb.-Boon

I have thought that many times before Oto. I live in a country that has Manchester United as a dominating force in sport... Fuck, Its seriously boring to have the big guns always winning, let the gladiator beat the fucking bear every now and again..

Rigged? No...
You would be able to spot that a mile away.
I think you only feel this way because it's so mainstream.
If it wasn't well liked and popular you would obviously feel differently.
I know what you mean though.
I grew up and still listen to punk music. And if there was a punk band that sold out and went to radio stations, then the real punk scene would hate that band.
It's the only analogy I could think of.

I wouldn't have nothing against sports if it wasn't ALL OVER the place. Regarding American Football, probably a Roman gladiator had a longer career than the average footbal player
The time of being brave will always find us unaware. If we doubt, the only question remaining will be: why wasn't I brave?

While on the one hand I agree with you, I do have a dark little secret....hockey. I love that shit. It's the only sport I watch apart from the Olympics. You know the same argument should be made about TV in general. As far as being rigged, only the bookies know for sure.
If it looks like a duck, acts like a duck, and quacks like a duck it is probably just a tool of the conspiracy.

Rigged? No, but as far as keeping the masses entertained. I suppose, but what is wrong with being entertained? I don't know about any of you but I enjoy forgetting about the problems of the world for a few hours while cooking up some food, drinking some beers, and socializing with friends.

That`s not a bad idea... lets bring the death penalty back but instead of electrocuting people, we let the beat the crap out of each other in an arena, hopefully with flamethrowers and futuristic cars... the winner gets to get out of jail and have another chance at life ... with the knowledge gained after having to fight for his own survival, and the people watching can place bets and shit....
I can so see that happening, dam.. It would probably become mainstream, I hate it already.

when you break down the structure of the organizations, there is a good bit of foul play ( money wise) going on. Think of the recent "threat" of strike by the american feetball players.
due to money distribution.
That is on the professional level, but you also have the college leagues, who get almost as much attention, and bring in close to the same levels of capital. Tho the players receive no pay.
Do sports dull the senses of the events that happen around us? yes, it is an escape, simple as it may be, from reality, But really no more then MMO or fantasy leagues, or the bottem of a beer glass.... Even a conspiracy site, thats purpose is no greater then to pontificate.
Much of reality, we ignore, and find solace in games, distractions, or drug abuse.
Welcome to the dichotomy of the human psyche.
