Hey guys and gals

Strange story, about a weird night that I had about six months ago.

I currently live with my old man, in a fairly small town, and I've lived here for about a year or so. One day, my mom came down to our appartment, because her husband had been drunk and abusive, verbally, which she didn't like. She's a nervous woman, so my dad and I offered her a bed here for the night. We had fun; watching tv, talking about this and that, and just hanging around the living room. Sometime around 8pm, I decided to grab the car, and drive up to the local store, simply because I wanted some sweets and a soda, and my mom wanted to come along, so we went. We bought what we needed, and took off. On our way back, her cellphone suddenly rang. She fumbled around for a second, and eventually pulled it out of her inner pocket. She looked at the caller id, as she always does, and just stared at it, not doing anything. I asked: "I guess you don't want to talk the person, eh", and laughed a bit, but she remained silent. Then she put the phone in front of me, and I, byt reflex, said the number out loud. She looked at me, and we said to each other: "Well, we don't know who it is, so nevermind". Nothing strange, just yet. But later that night I recalled the number, since I had said it out loud, and she looked at me again, and I realized what and who's number it had been: My sisters OLD number, which she basically had given up many years ago. It was an area number, referring specifically to her old house, which was taken down also many years ago. We FREAKED out, because the number didn't show on the incoming calls list on the phone, but when we tried to call that number, a womans voice said: "Number is invalid, please try again".

Number doesn't exist, but we got the call from this number.

It sends chill down my spine when I think about that night, and we simply let it go, because it was too freaky to deal with.

Anyhoo, just a funny/freaky little story, of something "unexplained" from my life :mrcool:

So how did the caller get your mom's number?

These are the questions, that I ask myself quite often, regarding this "impossible" call:

- HOW can a NON-EXISTING number, make a call?
- WHO/WHAT "caused" this call in the first place?
- WHY did my mom get that call? :nails:

We didn't accept the call, so naturally we didn't get an answer as to who was calling. The number was familiar, because my sister used that number MANY years ago, and she would regularly call my mother on her cell.

That number, was "deleted" about ten years ago, and actually has been inactive ever since, and when you dial the number, a voice states that it's invalid. But I'm frustrated by it, you know. Not knowing what the hell is going on, what it is and so on.

I've never been in contact with something unexplainable like this, but I am an openminded guy. But when all of a sudden, YOU'RE in the middle of it, and you can't explain it, it's absolutely terrifying. At least it was for me and my old mother.

Some might say it is a "problem" with the landlines, a mixup with the company providing the numbers, and some might even suggest something supernatural, like a sign. I personally don't know what to make of it, so I'll let it be what it is: a very good "spooky" story, the ones I can tell my future kids to scare them with before bedtime :D

Do you think maybe the number could have been alike and not the same.eg 456789 + 465789 at first glance would look the same,And if you cancelled the call by accident before it went to voicemail it wouldn't come up as a missed or received call? Just an idea! :flop:

It could have been that, it's definitely possible, but I'm absolutely positive that it was the "right" number. It felt like my mom knew it when the call came, but didn't want to let me in on it, maybe she was afraid of coming across as a weirdo if she was wrong. And it deifinetly rang a bell in my head, when I said it out loud the first time, but I realized what it was later.

SHE confirms that it was my sister's old number, and I'm positive too.

Haha, that would've been crazy stuff man. Now I'm gonna get drunk, grab my guitar, and write a song titled: "Message From The Past"

A few questions have occurred to me but I don't think they are likely to help you make any progress on this strangeness (only my curiosity) so I'll just keep them unasked.

Just one thing, whenever I don't get to answer my phone before it stops or the caller hangs up just as I pick up, my attitude is always "they'll call back if it's important enough".
Do you know for sure that this has not happened since that time?
