Now THAT is what DV is all about.
Autlander gets poster of the month..
ON TOP of knowing the second image was the wrong one.
There are several families of Nyctibius,
and there's some small chance my pic is incorrect...
or he got the genus slightly off...no matter either way.
Mine is Grandis, opposed to Caprimulgus..
But Nyctibius got me there...
That would have been really hard to figure out.
I looked earlier and didnt come up with anything..
You sir, are indeed correct.
I know im sounding corny but that was awesome..
thanks for logging in to share what you knew.

no i think you are wrong, watch the little claws
this is Caprimulgus nyctibius
That bird is an Athene cunicularia.
Let me find a picture of a Caprimulgus nyctibius.... because i can't find one in google. I'll try to scan some pictures from a book.
EDIT: I've found one (the image is too big for this forum, sorry) http://home.scarlet.be/~tsd81005/birding/rogi02.jpg

I have to agree with lowsix. It's amazing the amounts of actual knowledge of the people that post here. Great post.
