It was probably hard to see the sun in St Martins in that timeframe.

In 1306, concerns over air pollution were sufficient for Edward I to (briefly) ban coal fires in London.

St Martins in the Fields, London, Excavations at the site in 2006 led to the discovery of a grave dated about 410.
